DIY waxing - it’s not possible is it?

Or maybe it’s just me. I like to get waxed fairly regularly but have tried occasionally to save money by having a go myself.

I know the trick is to rip it off fast but tbh I never even get that far! Just seem to get in a dreadful mess with wax everywhere except where it’s meant to be, and I end up hot, bothered, sticky with the added bonus of a lovely mess to clear up.

So - any tips? Apart from continuing to go to the salon?!

I have done this in the past.

I know people say don't use the wax strips but I have had better results using them than using hot wax. I would cut the wax strips into small segments, making sure that each one had enough of an edge to be able to get a decent grip and rip it off. Heat the wax strips with your hairdryer beforehand, press them down firmly and let them set for a bit before ripping them off. It's difficult at first but it does get easier.

That said, I only used to do this when I was in a long distance relationship and didn't want to spend loads of money on a professional wax when I was only going to see my OH for a couple of days.

Now we live together I have found a good salon and go there instead.

Well I can wax myself anywhere aside from the bikini area. Bikini waxing is definitely impossible unless you have a very high pain tolerance and high skill. I have a decent pain tolerance but still give up half way, and so I just go to a salon for bikini waxing.

I know it's not for everyone but it is definitely possible if you persevere.

I always wax myself apart from the inner bits of the bikini line.
