Yesterday I was passing through a big station and thought I'd ask for a sample of the Mac Pro longwear foundation.

I explained to the sales assistant that I was olive skinned, she agreed. I explained I just tried Nars Sheer glow is Barcelona and it was too pale on me with the wrong undertones. She said "No, that can't be right. I'm mixed race and darker than you. It works for me Confused"

I just put my make up on and tried the foundation. I look hilarious Grin The photos don't do it justice, but basically, in person the foundation is like face paint!

It's not even a skin colour looking shade... I look like a clown.

I then added my usual concealer and then put on my blusher, made for olive/warm undertones. It looks comical.

What on earth has gone on?!

The shade she gave me is apparently NC35. NC30 (the shade below), is popular on YouTube and seems to be worn by white woman/people with no tan at all so if anything, I thought NC35 would be too pale too. I'm Hispanic background with quite a golden tan.

I look ridiculous.

Has anyone else had bad experiences with Mac foundation shades?

Hahahahaha! That’s horrendous! What on earth was she thinking? She’s given you a really yellow based shade which generally looks awful with olive skin - you need a neutral/slightly cool toned foundation or olive skin ends up looking yellow or green. It’s probably not too dark for you (although that’s hard to tell from a pic), it’s the undertone that’s the problem.

vivalafrida · 06/08/2018 14:34

You are a very beautiful Minion.

Sidneythecam · 06/08/2018 14:38

You are lovely

AlonsoTigerHeart · 06/08/2018 14:39

The most attractive wotsit I've ever seen.

Spam88 · 06/08/2018 15:00

Looks like you've smeared yourself in iodine 😬

trigger2 · 06/08/2018 15:16

I’d take it back if you can and show them the photos !

trigger2 · 06/08/2018 15:18

I misread - you got a sample - ignore me !

I once got a colour match from Boots when they started doing it for No 7. The counter was near the door so I said I was going to go out in daylight and see what it was like, they were fine. On the other hand I also got an EL sample - colour was similar to yours- unfortunately my skin tone is not !

WilburIsSomePig · 06/08/2018 15:31

Oh my! You are so beautiful through, I'm still jealous, even with that terrible foundation!

ShirleyPhallus · 06/08/2018 15:33

So funny Grin

I’ve never had a good experience with MAC foundation though, it always seems way too heavy

Agree that you’re very beautiful

RebeccaCloud9 · 06/08/2018 15:36

Haha oh dear. You are very beautiful underneath the terrible foundation though!

I've recently been to several counters inc Bobbi Brown, EL, Clinique and Charlotte Tilbury in my quest for a wedding foundation. All the colour matches were awful and I could have done a much better job if they'd just left me to it.

Doingreat · 06/08/2018 15:54

Omg.

When bad foundation happens to beautiful people...

LockedOutOfMN · 06/08/2018 15:56

OP, you are very very pretty!

Bin that foundation though! Shock

Aprilshowersinaugust · 06/08/2018 15:57

You can always keep it incase the opportunity to play an oompa loompa comes along...

SwishyHairMummy · 06/08/2018 16:23

Thank you Thanks

Shall keep it in case I'm selected to star as the sister of Green Mask or something

I have ordered Nars Sheer Glow (sample), and I'm hoping it'll be good. I matched myself from looking people up on YouTube who look similar skin tones to me.

Bloody can't believe the shade I've been given Envy

sorry to derail, im not being a CF but have you had your lips done? if so, how long does it last for and was it painful?

MrSpock · 06/08/2018 17:34

I always get given stupid shades. I’m fair skinned but neutral toned. Cue everyone giving me either really cool or really warm tones that look ridiculous!

Gatekeeper · 06/08/2018 17:36

By....what a corking looking lass you are Smile

SwishyHairMummy · 06/08/2018 18:10

fluttery I've not had my lips done, never have. But thank you for saying so since I've always wished for bigger lips BlushGrin

Gate Brilliant sounding compliment, where are you from?

I have to admit you look beautiful OP. I often wonder if everyone on here looks like you - apart from me 😂 😂

flutteryleaves · 06/08/2018 18:33

they look great - i wasn't sure since they looked very real and no obvious filler outline etc.

Brendatheblender · 06/08/2018 18:36

Same happened to me when I went to Mac for a new foundation.

I looked like a wotsit.

rightknockered · 06/08/2018 18:51

Exact same thing happened to me and shade NC30. But took me a couple of weeks to realise I look a bit green. Mortifying. I now wear good old Chanel vitalumiere Beige 30. Perfect for me. Nice central balancing shade

rightknockered · 06/08/2018 18:51

Neutral balancing shade
