Burgundy trainers

hi all

I am not a shopper, nor am I fashionable! I think...

anyway, I suddenly fancy buying a pair of burgundy trainers but I don't know what I can wear with them. My norm is dark colours....I just literally have no idea how to style these, I've never worn anything other than grey or black on my feet.

I only do jeans/trousers. Any advice? Maybe I'm just eyeing up too many trainers in the sales! Thanks.

Burgundy is a lovely colour - goes great with navy, blush pink, charcoal as well as black and denim.
I'd say go for it - if you love them, you will wear them!

LighthouseSouth · 05/08/2018 21:50

I guess I'm not used to the fact of a colour on a shoe!

Plus I'm old so I belong to a more "matchy" school of thought and modern trends confuse me - I know that sounds mad!

Funny you should say this OP, as I saw these trainers on ASOS earlier. Alas my size isn't available.

LighthouseSouth · 05/08/2018 22:52

ooh those are nice too

bit more brown than I was thinking

I was leaning towards this kind of tone

I feel inspired. Yes, yes to burgundy trainers.

Dark rolled up jeans and white or striped ankle socks.

Or unseen trainer socks with 3/4 cargo pants and an ankle bracelet.

Vaycayheyhey · 06/08/2018 12:06

Had burgundy ones a year ago, go with so much esp gray trainers

Vaycayheyhey · 06/08/2018 13:10

Grey jeans! Doh.

LockedOutOfMN · 06/08/2018 14:25

My friend has a pair from New Balance; they must be a couple of years old now, but they seem like quite a classic design so they may well still sell them or another style in that colour or a similar one.

LighthouseSouth · 06/08/2018 14:36

I'm eyeing up New Balance, funnily enough!

Love those new balence shoes op i say go for it..

SenorBork · 06/08/2018 16:09

I have some burgundy New Balance, same colour but slightly different style to the ones you've linked. They're great, go with pretty much anything and they're wearing really well (had them two years now). I wouldn't wear them with anything red, but other than that I think they work with everything!

LighthouseSouth · 06/08/2018 16:23

I'm going to buy some, thanks.

I do have a couple of tops in that colour. Would it be awful to wear them with that top and regular blue jeans, and say a grey slouchy cardigan type thing?

OP posts:
SoyDora · 06/08/2018 16:28

Ooh I like those OP!

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 18:56

I have some! Braved the shops at lunch time - work in Central London - and got some.

The brightness is going to take a while to get used to. now looking for dark grey jeans.

but yes, they do seem....bright.....! Just walking round the flat in them to make sure fit is okay.

I have these Nike Air Pegasus in burgundy. I love them. They go with pretty much everything and are very comfy. I love the colour so I say go for it.

@Ellapella

Darn it, now I wish I'd got those! are they are bit brighter in real life than the pic? They look more purple. Which actually works better with what I already own....

the ones I have are feeling a bit tight just pottering around in the flat. I heard New Balance come up small but I have narrow feet as well...hmm...

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 07/08/2018 20:17

@LighthouseSouth I think this is pretty much true colour, they are quite dark. I like New Balance but find them too narrow for my wide feet, Nike are the only trainers other than Vans and Supergas that I can get a comfortable fit with.

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 20:41

thanks Ella

I am wearing these New Balance ones after basically sitting in the office all day and the top def feels tight. They did say they are narrow but my feet are narrow ....I do have Nikes and they fit fine.

after all the excitement, I might have to return these Confused
you can tell I don't shop often

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 07/08/2018 21:15

I think when you have wide feet shoe shopping is a minefield! I love it but dread it at the same time. If you have wide feet these will be fine for you. Go with your usual size if you decide to get them.

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 21:20

but I have narrow feet....

it's probably just all a minefield really!
