Any advice on how to accessories?

So much fashion advise I see is to accessorise an outfit to update it and show your personality but I am completely lost as how to do this.

I try but end up looking like a toddler given free reign in a dressing up box. I never seem to get the right scarf or necklace and nothing seems to go together.

Any advice or tips to help me learn???

Am 47 5ft 1in tall and size 10 if that helps?

All depends on the outfit, I personally think less is more and I like things to match. If you are wearing a busy pattern go light on the accessories, whereas if your outfit is plain you can go for a bit more.

Get some bits in silver and some in gold and you can usually choose either of these to match nicely and not looks too much

That's a good tip about patterns. Just the sort of tip I am looking for thank you

I don't like things to match. The whole matchy-matchy look is very dated.

Maybe go to a department store with a friend (whose judgement you trust and who will be honest) and try on a few things to see what suits you and what doesn't. Or just wear what you like and to hell with what peope think. Half the battle is confidence. Smile

Lol I seem to be loosing the confidence battle at the moment. Never thought to shop just for accessories before tho so will give that a try. I normally shop on line as there's more petite stuff and end up just adding stuff randomly to my order
Confused

I tend to look at the cheap end of the high street as I know I make mistakes. Belts and hats are ones I never quite get right. H&M regularly come up trumps as does ASOS.

I wear a lot of necklaces so hunt these down in the sales.

Yikes. Welcome to a whole new world then. Smile I obsessively shop for accessories...bags, shoes, scarves, jewellery. I'll often base an entire outfit around a particular accessory or two that I like.

So today's outfit was all around these shoes:
airandgracelondon.com/collections/espadrilles/products/mardi-gras

And this necklace:
wald-berlin.de/products/how-high-kette-mit-3-echten-kauri-muschel
With this bracelet:
shop.tohumdesign.com/collections/bracelet/products/large-puka-shell-bracelet-in-gold-with-natural-shell
(for some reason I'm fixated on shell jewellery this season)

Maybe just start out looking in Accessorize or Top Shop or Etsy and seeing if there are certain styles of things - or colours - you like?

Never looked at it that way before will give it a try
