John Lewis & posting abroad

Saw a beautiful silk shirt in JL at Heathrow on Friday. Dithered & didn't buy, but thought I would order online. Went online yesterday only to find JL cannot send this item internationall. Why?
It is an own brand and not something you could get where I live. I won't be in the UK again for another couple of months, by which time it will have sold out.
Is it worth contacting JL directly?

I doubt they’d send it internationally if you ask them either, I’m sure the restriction is in place for a reason rather than being a technical error sort of thing.

However, could you possibly get it delivered to a friend or family member, and either collect it when you’re back in the UK or ask them to forward it to you? Failing that, can you try a reship company/service who will give you a virtual UK address then post it to your international address? Or try third party websites like eBay or Depop? It’s annoying but John Lewis is a UK retailer so I wouldn’t expect them to have a full range available internationally, even on their website

Set up a Shop & Ship account and get it sent there!
