Hair straightening treatments?

Has anyone had a permanent/semi permanent hair straightening treatment done? Would really like to hear about your experiences, especially if it helped/worsened the condition of your hair?

I have wavy hair but it gets really kinky (especially at the roots) during humidity- so both in summer and winter. I look like I have been ‘caught in the rain’ at times as my hair tends to look awful and mop like within an hour of leaving the house - it’s that reactive to humidity and won’t hold any style. This makes me look messy and unprofessional as you can imagine! So I’m just wondering why I’m even bothering to deal with my hair like this anymore...

Years back I used a Boots home straightening kit which worked surprisingly well for the £15 or so it cost, but the downside was my hair only grew about an inch a year for a good 5 years after that! Been too scared to try anything since...

Oh no, I’m trying to recover my damaged hair so that doesn’t sound good! I figured that constant straightening/blow drying would outweigh one straightening treatment in terms of damage, but I guess notSad
