Wedding outfit

I’m off to a wedding in a quite grand church, with tea and cake after, followed by a dinner somewhere fairly posh, with a dress code of “lounge suits” and stating that hats are welcome but not required.

I’m currently thinking of wearing one of two dresses. One is blush pink, knee length, lace overlay with scalloped edges and cap sleeves with little seed beads. The other is a smart knee length dress in a bright aqua blue, with a fairly deep v, shoulders but no sleeves and a wrap style. I have shoes to go with either but don’t own a (wedding appropriate) hat. I wear winter structured hats quite a lot, and wear them in the summer but informal hats!

I also have a tea length purple satin-silk floral dress, but I thought that would be too formal?

Do both sound like suitable options to you, and would you expect most people to be wearing a hat? I’m not opposed to wearing a hat at all if that would be the best option! I assume sandals are okay for a wedding?

I like the sound of your pink dress. I wouldn’t bother with a hat.

Thank you! Good to have reassurance, this is the first of my friends to get married so haven’t been to a wedding since I was a child - I really wasn’t sure how to interpret the dress code!
