How often do you get your roots done?

For those who colour all over, how often do you get it re-done. I'm a mousy light brown (technically a dark blonde) but have it bleached then toned platinum all over.
4 weeks in and I'm keen to get it done again as my hair looks 'unclean' with all the dark roots.
How long can you bear it before you get yours done again?

I can’t go much more than 4 weeks but then I’m very grey and dye to a dark red/brown ......the roots are horribly obvious :(

IdblowJonSnow · 02/08/2018 22:21

2 - 3 months which is way too long but it's so expensive and takes so bloody long!

EdisonLightBulb · 02/08/2018 22:23

7 weeks, then I have highlights and lowlights and roots done.

Pebblesandfriends · 02/08/2018 22:23

I can stretch it to about 8 weeks now I
have discovered the root spray stuff!

freetoagoodhome · 02/08/2018 22:26

I get highlights, although pretty blonde all over after 17 years. I used to get them done every six weeks, but I’m on week 10 just now. I will be trying for an appointment in the next week, but it’s a miserable 3 hours out my life which I can’t quite pluck up the enthusiasm to commit to.

freetoagoodhome · 02/08/2018 22:27

@Pebblesandfriends what’s that? Could use some to tide me over this weekend for a night out!

theunsure · 02/08/2018 22:28

10 weeks here, but my grey not too bad, it’s just anoyingly at the very front and sides. I have mid brown hair with caramel highlights.
I try not to have it done too often as don’t want over processed hair.

woodhill · 02/08/2018 22:29

Too hot at moment to bother. Usually every 5-6 weeks

biggirlknickers · 02/08/2018 22:31

About every 3 months because it’s all I can afford. Root spray keeps me sane in the last month.

Icequeen01 · 02/08/2018 22:31

5 weeks for me but during the last week I have to use the spray on root cover up as I look as though a pigeon has splat in my head!

PurpleArmy · 02/08/2018 22:39

About every 4/5 weeks. I just do my hairline parting using the colour I always use but just a small amount. Then the next 4/5 weeks I'll do all my roots properly and then the next time, a full head colour.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 02/08/2018 22:41

Every 4 weeks without fail - I'm quite grey I can't stand it and I'm no good with a box colour!

Plus I like to go to the salon, drink fancy teas and read nice magazines. I don't get many treats but that is one of them!!!

LexieLulu · 02/08/2018 22:46

I used to go 6 weeks, but I've recently had root stretch done, where they basically give you roots but blend it into the length of your hair. I can go much longer now as there is no harsh regrowth line

AnaViaSalamanca · 02/08/2018 22:46

4 weeks but three weeks in I have to use some interim measure like eyebrow gel or mascara (i know... haven't found anything better)

tobee · 02/08/2018 22:53

6 weeks here (for grey) but that's pushing it. I've tried root cover powder and sprays but they look pretty bad. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong.

Maverick66 · 02/08/2018 22:54

All over colour.
Brown.
Wash hair every day.
3 weeks 4 at a stretch.

NorthernSpirit · 02/08/2018 22:55

I’m really grey with dark brown hair. My roots start showing after 3.5 weeks. I use root colour spray for 2 weeks and have a colour.

toocool4cats · 02/08/2018 23:21

Every 4 weeks for me too, very grey and need the root spray after 3 weeks

BWatchWatcher · 02/08/2018 23:24

Root spray only works on grey roots, not mouse brown vs blond. :(

Pebblesandfriends · 03/08/2018 00:26

@freetoagoodhome it's called magic retouch root spray. @Bwatchwatcher sadly I am pretty grey!

LockedOutOfMN · 03/08/2018 00:54

I am dark blonde with lighter blonde highlights. I tend to go every 10 or 11 weeks - I find it difficult to fit it in during term time (teacher) and so 8 or 9 weeks intervals are not usually possible. But I don't like to go a full 3 months.

Hunter007 · 03/08/2018 08:49

Every three weeks - but I do them myself. I'm platinum blonde all over too. Naturally pretty blonde anyway so it's easy to do myself with a box of nice n easy!
