Can someone answer a question about my shoes?

I have recently bought some new shoes from M&S. They have a strip of elastic across the back of the heel. What is it for? Is it one of these things that holds the shoe in shape while it's in the shop and I should cut it out now? Or is it something else and I should leave it there? Apologies for my cluelessness! Photo below for guidance! Grin

I'd ask M&S !

It will be to stop your heel from slipping out. I think it is a brilliant idea. I have narrow heels, and a lot of slip on shoes are like flip flops on me. I must look out for shoes like that.

That's what I though initially Lonicera, but when I wore them out on Saturday night they shredded the back of the feet to ribbons. That was when I thought I'd been a clueless twat and should have cut them out before I wore them!
Perhaps they just need breaking in a bit. Apart from the heels, they're so comfy and gorgeous.

That doesn't sound good
