Can I dress this up enough for a wedding?

I have this dress from M&S, I think it looks nice on me but I'm worried it may be too casual. I was hoping I could dress it up a bit with some nice jewellery and shoes and a jacket or something.

Can I dress this up enough for a wedding?

I would say you probably could, fancy clutch and shoes, jewellery and a nice hair do. It would probably look quite dressy.

Why not? Maybe pashmina rather than jacket.

TooFatTooHairy · 02/08/2018 01:40

What colours should I look for?

I would say nude or white. Even silver maybe.

Thanks.

What about this jacket or is a jacket a definite no?

Orange contrasts with blue so maybe a peach belt (I'm assuming the belt is detachable) or shoes or bag. Not all three. Green or a stronger blue might be another good colour pop option. Then agree your other accessories nude or white or silver.

A Chanel style boucle jacket like this might be OK. But I'm terrible on smart jackets and particularly in the summer so maybe listen to someone wiser! My jacket wardrobe is entirely casual -denim, leather, khaki military style.

thedevilinablackdress · 02/08/2018 07:06

Definitely dress-uppable. I'd avoid black or navy.

Try and block out the fact that the model is wearing casual sandals. I think that's what's fooling you into thinking it's too casual. In fact their styling of it has irrationally annoyed me. It's perfect for a wedding in its own right. Don't think it needs a jacket. Maybe get a pashmina in case it gets cool in the evening. I would go for silver sandals and bag.

(It does at least mean you'll get wear out of it because clearly you can also dress it down).

Lovely dress.

The white jacket you picked would look nice.

MinesaPinot · 02/08/2018 13:48

I like that! I'd personally go for a real colour pop with that - maybe a hot pink shoe and pashmina and then a patterned bag to bring the colours together. And a real pop of pink lipstick.

GingerLDN · 02/08/2018 22:27

Its lovely. Silver, nude or another pastel colour for accessories.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/08/2018 22:34

Maybe this jacket (although not seen irl and it might be hideous!) with hot pink shoes?

Or there are some amazing pale pink leather jackets around, if the wedding isn't too posh!
