I’ve only ever used Nivea/Garnier/Soltan etc but fancy something a little more luxe this year so looking for recommendations. I always see loads of lovely suncare products in the airport but I have no idea if they work or are worth the money. If it makes any difference, I’m late 40’s with dry skin (courtesy of hypothyroidism 🙄).

Shiseido anessa perfect is fantastic and they have a mild version for sensitive skin.

BitOfFun · 02/08/2018 01:27

Have you done any research on the most effective products? I think that's probably the best way to find what you need. 'Which?' do annual reports, I think.

hopethisworks · 03/08/2018 08:36

For years I used Clarins F50 Anti Wrinkle for my face and it was worth every penny but I think they may have changed ingredients recently. I took a bottle away this year and it felt and smelt cheap on application and my daughter had a nasty reaction on her face having used it many times before. A shame as it's 5 * UVA and UVB. Caudalie do one I've heard is good?

Fishfingersandwich3 · 03/08/2018 11:15

My favourite ever sunscreen is Coola SPF spray with Pina Colada scent. It is pricey but smells absolutely amazing and also very good protection, I have never burned using it and am not particularly good at reapplying. It’s easy to spray on too and sinks in quickly - I don’t have much patience for standing around in the ‘scare crow’ position for too long!

fredabear · 03/08/2018 11:22

I've bought vichy this year, their range is highly rated

Jaimx86 · 03/08/2018 11:27

Someone on here recommended Laroche Posay. I bought some for holiday this year and was really impressed with the application and non-greasy finish. www.laroche-posay.co.uk/suncare/range/anthelion

It's not very posh but the Palmers cocoa butter suncream is lovely.

BettyBooHoo · 03/08/2018 11:29

Lancaster products are lovely.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 03/08/2018 13:40

Institut Esthederm is the best sun cream.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 03/08/2018 13:44

Is it a facial sunscreen you're after or a body? Tbh I buy more expensive and cosmetically elegant ones for my face and smother the body in garnier and similar.

I like Elta MD, heliocare, Clinique is always a hit with all the family.

FeeEngel · 03/08/2018 13:53

Another Lancaster fan here.

BettyBooHoo · 03/08/2018 13:58

And Biore Watery Essence spf 50+ is the only sunscreen I'll use on my face. Just amazing stuff.

Atalune · 03/08/2018 14:03

Biotech watery essence here too for my face and I love the smell and coverage of Piz Bun reminds me of my lovely mummy who passed away recently but always used it.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 03/08/2018 14:24

Love Coola products, particularly the matte tinted mineral one for the face. It is nicely matte (not sticky or greasy) but really sheer, not chalky or white, and cruelty-free.

newdocket · 03/08/2018 14:40

I use the Vichy ones, really like them.

Truckingonandon · 03/08/2018 15:39

Dr Dennis gross tinted spf50 for your face is divine.

XingMing · 03/08/2018 16:15

Biore Watery Essence is great stuff, and I have a shelf of alternatives, but I go back to it. LRP and Bioderma make useful handbag size spray ons to give a top up, over makeup. I prefer the Bioderma because it's nicely hydrating (but only 30 SPF).

flutteryleaves · 03/08/2018 16:37

vichy non shine face sun lotion "ideal soleil dry touch", its amazing and i bought it after a someone on here talked about it. i bought it on look fantastic on an offer and paid £12 for a 50 ml tube, so to me, pricey enough!

its matte and doesnt smear into your eyes when you sweat and cause irritation like the slippy regular ones. its an amazing primer too. just wish i had found out about it back in june for the start of all the 28 degree weather. im still using it though as i'm out and about a lot every day and its still very bright in the cloudy weather we are having.

flutteryleaves · 03/08/2018 16:38

i have combination - dry cheek, chin and forehead, oily nose and cheekbones.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 03/08/2018 18:17

Forgot about biore watery essence - YYY!! YesStyle seems to be the best place to buy it if you're in the UK.

CherryPavlova · 03/08/2018 18:19

Posh suncream. How very funny and absolutely The antithesis of posh. Boots own is fine.

TinselAngel · 03/08/2018 18:22

Piz Buin is posh by my standards, and it smells of holidays.

OneOfTheGrundys · 03/08/2018 19:39

I use the LaRoche on my face and Ultrasun Sports spray on the body. DH is having chemo at the mo so vv good sun cream is vital.

XingMing · 03/08/2018 20:44

Boots own is (naturally) adequate, CherryPavlova, but for anyone who doesn't live the high life for 51 weeks a year, on a weeks holiday it's rather nice to enjoy something special and better than ordinary, to feel a little bit spoiled.
