I post this every year and never do nail itSad

I have weird sensory issues with my legs so I hate jeans/cords/most materials except jersey.

I've trained myself to tolerate tights so for work I'm ok in dresses. However weekends when out and about or dress down days at work I struggle. I don't want to do tights every day, I want some casual but non frumpy trousers in thick jersey/soft stretchy cotton.

Summer is find - harems. But for colder weather I need something thicker. I'm a short 12/14 with heavy thighs and a mumtum. I would wear with typical casual tops - long sleeved tshirts, thin jumpers and the odd chunky knit. Footwear would be chunky trainers or chunky boots. I suit tapered legs better than wide legged.

I will give a cash reward to anyone who can help - I'm that desperate!

Could you stick to your harems, but with a pair of thermal leggings underneath for when it's cold?

PhyllisWig · 31/07/2018 21:55

Yes I may do that actually. Need some new ones as all of my cheapy H&m ones have shrunk so may size up. Do they work with boots though?

No idea, sorry. Never worn them.

Leggings with long tops and jumpers surely?!

Or thicker joggers? You get loads of tapered style ones now.

Peacocks and Dorothy Perkins both do lovely soft jeggins which are sturdy enough to pass as jeans but have no buckles/zips/buttons etc and are stretchy. Great for holding things in if you go down a size or comfortably slouchy if you go a bit bigger. The DP version are called the Eden I believe, they come in loads of colours depending on the season and they hold up to washing really well which is always good.

How about these? Look smarter and heavier than tights or harems.

I'm not a fan of leggings either - honestly this has been a challenge since I was a kid! I don't even like sleeping with stuff on my legs,

I am going to investigate joggers - lovely for home but I want something good enough for the odd day in the office or out for Sunday lunch. I suspect the key is in the styling which means I am DOOMED

Primark do loads of harem pants/yoga pant styles and some of them are actually quite thick and warm!

argumentativefeminist · 31/07/2018 22:11

The ones in at the moment are quite thin but I got some thick cotton ones last winter so maybe when the autumn stock comes in!

argumentativefeminist · 31/07/2018 22:13

Also if your current tights aren't quite perfect I'd really recommend Snag Tights online. They're so amazingly comfy and don't give me any of the usual irritation of constantly falling down/rubbing. (Promise I'm going now!)

PhyllisWig · 31/07/2018 22:13

Ruby I had high hopes of the Edens but too itchy/constricting. Even when I sized up. I got a bit teary actually.

Nearly those look promising but they don't get the best reviews re quality. I will pop them in the list though, thanks

I have some boot cut yoga pants, similar to this: www.victoriassecret.com/vs-sport/yoga-and-leggings/high-rise-bootcut-yoga-pant-victoria-sport?ProductID=362415&CatalogueType=OLS
They are my go-to lounging about the house trousers, but also can smarten up with a dressier top. Mine are nice and thick fabric. I'm not sure what these particular ones feel like but the reviews mention that they are made of quite thick fabric.

These are good on me at 5ft 3 and soft jersey. I wear them with wedge flip flops at the moment and am planning on ankle boots in winter. I dress them up with a jersey Uniqlo blazer.
