Any suggestions for a great primer please?

I've used the NYX primer after reading a recommendation on here - it's really good and approx £7 in Boots.

AveABanana · 31/07/2018 07:46

Wilkos. £3 in a pink tube.

Or Benefit pore professional.

ElfrideSwancourt · 31/07/2018 09:26

Ooh thanks for that tip @AveABanana I'm going to Wilkinson's today I'll give it a try Smile

jjemimapuddleduck · 31/07/2018 09:30

Is it Waitrose bottom butter that's supposed to be a great primer? About £4 I think.

TheClientList · 31/07/2018 09:59

I'm a makeup artist and I know this sounds silly but Nivea post shave balm, I've used urban decay I've used mac I've used primark I've used stuff like L'Oréal etc and the only thing that has worked on myself as well as other people is that! It's fantastic it isn't Drying and it seeps into the skin rather than sit on top. It isn't tacky but does have a slight stick feeling which is what you need for a primer to hold foundation for longer. It lasts such a long time and it's too expensive neither! Smile

Rimmel fix and perfect.
A fiver from amazon, and I love it!
It doesnt dry up my skin, or leave it flaky, but sinks right in, leaving a lovely, smooth base for foundation.
It also doesn't make me too oily.

Beautifullymixed · 31/07/2018 10:57

I also love Innisfree no sebum blur primer.
It's a nude coloured, pore filling primer, that really does hide pores and blur the skin.
It also helps my make up to last for hours.

If my skin is a bit dry, I apply this on top of the rimmel primer, or mix them together.
The effect is lovely, and my favourite foundation, Maybelline fit me matte and poreless, goes on beautifully over it.

A cheap, but good primer is the W7 magic (from amazon), which is under £4.
It's a silicone primer, which fills pores, and blurs the skin. It also mattifies.

This is useful when my skin is not dry, and I want my make up to really last.
Worth a try!

Annabelle4 · 31/07/2018 11:57

My favourite one was the No7 one, it came in the advent beauty calendar.

I'm using 'this works' at the moment, from a LOOK FANTASTIC beauty box and it's great too, but I've no idea how much either cost...

Ostagazuzulum · 31/07/2018 23:31

I second the Nivea post shave balm. Get the sensitive one. Way better than any brand I've ever used (and I've tried a lot in my quest for long lasting makeup!!). Totally rate it!

Zebrasmummy · 01/08/2018 00:09

George at Asda would you believe!? Nice texture, non shiny, but not matt and spf20.

Elledorado · 01/08/2018 05:43

The "this works" in transit camera close up one is fab at keeping makeup in place and making skin look great.

feathermucker · 01/08/2018 05:59

Wilkos £3

Bubba1234 · 02/08/2018 08:04

I liked the inglot one I can’t remember the price sorry

ItWillAllBeOkayInTheEnd · 02/08/2018 08:56

Definitely the Nivea post shave Balm. I started using it this week and it's truly amazing. Also only £6 for a massive bottle.

Giraffe5 · 02/08/2018 09:05

Tried the wilko one. Quite impressed so far

Im just telling you to avoid Avon Magix. Its leaves a very talcy feel and i find my foundation doesn’t blend well on my face.

Bombardier25966 · 02/08/2018 13:33

Is this the Nivea one?

www.wilko.com/en-uk/nivea-men-sensitive-post-shave-balm-100ml/p/0142164

Currently using the Wilko pink tube one, it's OK but not great.

PolaDeVeboise · 02/08/2018 13:51

Going to try the Nivea one - how long do you generally need to leave before applying foundation?

MUjunkie · 02/08/2018 13:54

Nivea sensitive post shave balm, and it lasts forever!

leccybill · 02/08/2018 13:57

I really rate Max Factor Smooth Miracle, about £7 on Amazon, I'm on my 4th tube.
Better than any others I've tried Inc Urban Decay etc.

MUjunkie · 02/08/2018 13:57

Yes that's the one. You put on foundation as soon as it's soaked into your skin

Giraffe5 · 02/08/2018 15:51

I've read the Nivea post shave can cause spots but then I suppose lots of things can
