Don't know the name of this hat shape

... and it is really annoying me!

I LOVE my last winter hat (I know, it is July) and I had one similar years ago. It really suits me but I don't know what it is called and I KNOW I will lose it.

It is basically a fabric cylinder (fleece in my case) with a flat circle on top. So it looks sort of square when it is on, rather than rounded to the shape of my head. It can be pulled down over my ears or sit up a bit for height.

Does anyone know?

Why don’t you have a look at someone like Lock and Co’s website, or another milliner and see if they have the shape on there.

Enervator · 30/07/2018 22:50

Ooh, good idea. The Wikipedia list of hat shapes didn't do it but a milliner might....

A cloche?

ShovingLeopard · 30/07/2018 23:25

It might be quickest to google 'hat blocks' (that's the term for the form you shape a hat around). This is one example site, though it's American, and the terminology may differ slightly.

Hmm sounds like those Afghani felt hats but without the rolled bit? They are called Pakol

Ohyesiam · 30/07/2018 23:27

Pill box?

minipie · 30/07/2018 23:30

Or a Kufi hat?

Pork pie? (Clutching at straws)

Bucket hat?

Think much much more boring.

Orders of magnitude more boring.

You will all wonder why on earth I am bothering to ask when you see this hat. Pic attached.

Looks like a less voluminous, taller version of a cossack hat?

cardoon · 31/07/2018 19:38

How does it manage to look square when it's on?

Grace789 · 01/08/2018 10:22

papaha hat

Enervator · 02/08/2018 09:22

I guess it doesn't actually look properly square so much as not rounded to the shape of my head, like a beanie would.

I am learning so much about hats.
