Talk to me about dying your hair

I am early 40s and have light brown hair (used to be blonde many moons ago). In the past I have mostly highlighted my hair and recently I have turned to balayage. I am now going grey at the front. I find the process of balayage expensive and time consuming - this is why I stopped highlighting. I am also going off the look of darker roots and lighter ends.

What are my other options? Should I just dye my whole head my natural colour and be done with it? What about the grey? What are my options?

Thanks

If you trust your hairdresser, ask their opinion. Or ask someone/look for friends and acquaintances who have hair colour you think is great, and have a consultation with their hairdresser.

Based on your OP, I would say standard highlights in at least a T pattern would be your best bet for now, if you can put up with the time and financial outlay.

I'm like you - light brown/dark blonde. I have had highlights for many years and it hides the grey wells! I tend to go for starlight's which is 3 different colour highlights so my natural blonde then one and two shades lighter
It went sooooo blonde so recently I've had a toner put on so it's more ash now and I may have some platinum blonde highlights in the autumn after the summer sun goes - I definitely find the mixed highlights works well for grey coverage though Grin
