Could anyone help find this dress?

Would anyone be able to help me find this dress? I saw it on Pinterest but none of the links work, done were Japanese/Chinese (on Pintest) but didn't link anywhere. It has a label in the neck but I can't read it. I've tried every search combination I can think of but can't find it. It's probably £8099999 but I'd just like to know - before I set about trying to make it myself (10 years later when I'm old and grey and will have gone off it and be wearing cardigans).

PS. I am not generalising and saying everyone over a certain age wears cardigans. I'm of an age where a cardigan is perfectly acceptable. As long as it has pockets.

It comes up as a Japanese (Tokyo ginza area) special embroidered dress for around 830 pounds in my searches.

Thank you BobbyGentry! I spent hours searching for it, I even offered my DS £10 if he found it for me. I knew it would be expensive - not that expensive but expensive. I'm happy you've found it though, thank you. Now I know it actually exists I can either sell the dog (obviously not) or just pretend that I own it - or try and make it.

It's not on their website though - unless it probably is and I can't find it. They do such nice clothes. Very expensive.

What would be the reason to buy,or wear this dress. I have an old tablecloth with this design on it,and could possibly make it up into a summer dress, but a strappy one,and not like the one in the photo.

BobbyGentry · 28/07/2018 04:18

@TattyFrench, the style is nice, the dress would suit a petite frame. Think the website is confusing but was just going off the label.

Attached is a cheaper alternative (around 83 quid.)

I think it is lovely OP. I would wear it.

TattyFrench · 28/07/2018 10:54

1forAll74 because I like it? What other reasons would there be to buy an item of clothing?

Thanks Bobby, that other one is pretty but I like the kind of completely normal linen dress but really pretty flowers contrast. I am petite, I'd wear it will old jeans, rolled up. If I can find a tablecloth or similar I might try and make one.

I have been searching and searching for a dress like this for about a thousand years. Had abandoned the idea of making it due to shite embroidery skills but a tablecloth is a good idea! Are you going to do it?

PersisFord · 28/07/2018 22:43

Look at this

TattyFrench · 29/07/2018 08:56

Persis that's what I've been looking for to make one, my embroidery skills are on a par with a dog. The one you've linked to is gorgeous - but to keep the flowers intact it would have to be very wide or have a seam down the middle?

Are you bidding on it? I don't want to bid against you. I'm in France at the moment and going to a brocante in a bit so I thought I'd see if I'd be able to find an embroidered tablecloth. Annoyingly I used to have loads but I sold them!

PersisFord · 29/07/2018 09:46

Not bidding for the same reason - dressmaking skills, while better than embroidery, aren’t up to that. If I can find one with embroidery just around the border so I can literally just cut the dress out then I will give it a shot...but that tablecloth is too lovely for me to slash it up to no avail....

PersisFord · 29/07/2018 09:49

My talented Mum has suggested making a panel out of the embroidery but I think it would be hard to match the colour. If it was bigger so I could use the plain bit of the tablecloth for the dress maybe it would work.....

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 29/07/2018 12:00

FGS. Thanks for linking to that fr45 site (not!). So many things I want now but can’t afford Grin. Good luck with the dress/sewing skills OP, it’s a lovely dress.

TattyFrench · 29/07/2018 13:10

I found the perfect one at a bric-a-brac this morning but DD was naggering about a Barbie car, by the time we'd bought the car someone else had bought it! It was only €10 and massive! Off to a vide-granite/brocante this afternoon so I'll try again. DD is under strict instructions not to nagger. I did buy a nice old, leather bag for €5 though.

Persis would your mum not make you one? *

There are some lovely things on there aren't there Judas?

If I manage to make one I'll show you - unless it's awful Grin

PersisFord · 29/07/2018 19:10

She probably would. I think she was quite intrigued by the project so there’s a fair chance. I need to buy a massive tablecloth though I think so the whole thing can be made from it.

Hope your afternoon was successful!!
