Good strapless bra?

Fleuried · 25/07/2018 13:47

I have to wear a dress with high straps so a normal bra won't work. Sadly my days of going braless are well and truely in the past!

The top of the dress is similar to this but the straps are thicker and the neckline is higher.

So any recommendations please? Skin tone is probably better. Padded would be fab!

Alternatively do you think one of those multiway bras would work?

I'm not sure of my size (will get measured) but I'm a size 12/14 and slightly bigger than average I guess.

Thanks!

Off to do some more arm toning exercises...

www.amazon.co.uk/Wonderbra-W032D-Ultimate-Strapless-Silicone/dp/B014IF2UXC/ref=sr_1_1?s=clothing&keywords=wonderbra+strapless&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1532527850&sr=1-1

you'll need to try on i think. I got a random 34F and it's a bit loose on the back abd good in the cup. (i wear 30f in prima donna brand)

Ladygaggia · 25/07/2018 15:19

I second the Wonderbra ultimate strapless one. I can literally bounce up and down all night without it falling down.

Botanica · 25/07/2018 15:22

I struggle with strapless bras staying in place, but absolutely love Next's stretch lace bandeau style which are so comfortable and have really opened up my options this summer! Available in nude, white and black.

I'm also jumping on the band wagon for the wonderbra strapless bra. It's about £38... my only complaint is that because the back has to be so tight (to give the support) I find it gets very uncomfortable after a few hours of wearing it.
When I was a 1.5 stone lighter however the smaller bra was comfortable so maybe it's because I'm carrying extra weight now...

4yearsnosleep · 25/07/2018 15:24

I have the Wonderbra Ultimate and find it so constricting and uncomfortable. It looks great, but is definitely not comfy 🤷🏽‍♀️

KaliforniaDreamz · 25/07/2018 16:34

I agree not comfy - i wear it on nights out but not all day. i do have to put talc on the silicon too as it can leave me with welts.
lol this sounds nice doesn't it.
but if you have big boobs it works.
if you don't try any other!

BishopBrennansArse · 25/07/2018 16:36

I've got boobs the sort of size that the cups fit over my head and I love my Wonderbra strapless. Lifts and separates a dream and I feel so secure.

KaliforniaDreamz · 25/07/2018 16:38

Botanica is it this one?

I have the Wonderbra too and agree it feels very secure. But I feel like Jessica Rabbit / aging porn star in it at 34 e. My other option is a strapless bandeau bra that kept slipping down and necessitated lots of hoiking In Lidl to the consternation of the young guy on the check out.
Surely there must be another comfy non-padded option.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 25/07/2018 17:50

I don't have the strapless version but if I needed one I'd try the Freya Deco:
www.freyalingerie.com/advice/strapless-bras.aspx
Freya do other strapless bras too.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 25/07/2018 17:55

Meant to add my wedding dress had a narrow but low slit at the neck so I needed something very plungy, and it was satin so it needed to give a smooth line. The Deco kept everything where it should have been all night without cutting or displacing flesh. Freya bras are works of engineering genius.

babyboyHarrison · 25/07/2018 17:58

I like this one. Really nice shape and seems to stay put well despite not having that silicone band to help grip. I have it in a 36E and does its job well. Slightly padded but not really to make you look bigger just to help give support.

KaliforniaDreamz · 27/07/2018 13:45

is it true to size babyboy ?

3stonedown · 27/07/2018 13:46

I love the wonderbra too

SemiAquaticEggLayingMammal · 27/07/2018 16:12

I bought one recently from debenhams- it comes with removable straps (sure most of them do) so can be multiway. It's got formed cups so not padded but shapely. Keeps my 36gg's in place but not especially comfy- it looks good under the off the shoulder tops and dresses that I'm wearing lots of in this heat and so I am putting up with it! Nude colour. Very unsexy indeed Smile

Awkwardsness101 · 27/07/2018 16:21

I got a great one in H&M at the weekend. I wasn't expecting much, but bought a strappy, low back playsuit at the same time on a whim so got it to go with that. It's fab! Comfy too. They had padded and unpadded in white, black and nude (I got non-padded in nude). £16, I think.

babyboyHarrison · 27/07/2018 16:53

Kalifornia, I bought it in my usual size and it fits beautifully. I think I did order two different sizes just in case though

KaliforniaDreamz · 27/07/2018 20:21

thank you x
