Again! Best sun cream....

I would like:

• minimal nasties (I would go completely eco/natural but need high factor)
• milky formula - non sticky and no film
• water resistant
• non stingy on face
• at least factor 30, 50 preferable

Child friendly (not just a kids one, as I use the same).

Oh and non-staining! I used to use Sunsense and loved it but apparently new formula is reported to be a bit stingy on face?

I have tried many, and the best one has to be Rieman p20 factor 50 (it does have a good green rating even if it's a chemical filter). It's like a clear fluid and kind of odd to put on, but it does last all day (even at the beach constantly immersed in the sea) and my DC or myself never burned. I put a very liberal amount all over and then I did it again, so 2 generous layers. I did this again after lunch. With all sun creams it's very important to use loads, most people don't use enough and then it doesn't work.

I have been told that p20 stains, so I was careful to make it dry/absorb before getting dressed, and never had any problems.

I have tried many physical filter sun creams, but the effect washes off in the sea so quickly, although it still leaves a white film on the skin! I made sure I applied 2 generous layers every 2 hours, but it just didn't do a very good job. I use Green People (physical filter) factor 20 in the UK and p20 factor 50 in southern Europe on holiday.

What I also like about p20 is that it has been on the market for decades so it's really tried and tested.

Oh, and don't forget a factor 50 lip balm! I use Sunsense (less than £5 on Amazon), it's very good, no white lips ;)

Thank you I'll look into this! I've just found half a vat of Sunsense that I used 2 years ago, it's got a use by date of next year! I wonder if it's ok??

I think it will be fine, unless you have stored it in direct sunlight.

I second P20.

It is more expensive, but we find we aren't constantly reapplying like we are with the normal brands.

As pp said, we do wait sometime before getting dressed to avoid staining (which looks like dirt marks rather than staining!)

Strongly recommend La Roche-Posay Anthelious XL 50+ SPF UVB + UVA Ultra-light invisible mist.

Does what it says on the tin and is suitable for face (make sure DCs close their eyes or put their hands over them - or spray some mist into your hand and then apply it that way to their faces). Very water-resistant and not at all sticky. The DCs have been taking this to school since they were little and no mishaps with sunburn / stained clothes / covered in sand, etc.

We live in a warm climate and use sunscreen for much of the year. This is definitely the best we've found, and we all use it.

For face there is a brilliant stick from the same range (also works on lips), just called "Stick" (La Roche-Posay Anthelious XL 50+ SPF UVB + UVA) which is super easy to apply and not at all greasy. I carry one in my bag at all times.
