Talk to me about coloured shoes

I need inspiration and thinking about buying some that aren’t black, brown or nude. I’m talking formal corporate or going out shoes rather than sandals or canvas, esp heels.

Do you have any? If so can you wear opaques with them? What do they look extra good with?

I mean am looking at heels or leather shoes but it’s hard to break out of this comfort zone I’m in ..

I love coloured shoes but I don’t get as much wear out of them. They generally look better with bare legs or sheer tights IMO.

I bought a gorgeous pair of yellow/gold satin heels but haven’t had an occasion to wear them yet and suspect I might need to buy a whole outfit to go with them.

My red pointy heels get more wear because I keep them at work and can wear them every time I’ve got a plain outfit on or something that doesn’t clash.

No you can't really wear black opaques with coloured shoes unless you're going for a really quirky look

These are my faves currently .. Russell & Bromley pink loafers!

You can wear them with black trousers though.

Could you wear dark burgundy with opaques do you think?

Now thinking about an outfit to put with yellow heels ...

Probably one of the most ridiculous things I have ever bought. And I can’t even claim it was an impulse purchase because I ummed and ahhed for weeks.

Oh but they are lovely.

Skinny black jeans and a tight black top?

Or something with polka dots?

I wear coloured shoes a lot. I've got turquoise heels which are brilliant with skinny jeans or with a LBD. I wear rose gold loafers for work with coloured opaque tights in cooler months. Burgundy shiny lace ups ditto. I've only one pair of black shoes!

Leopard print is pretty versatile.

I think red can be quite versatile.

Tokyo those are fabulous. I would buy a whole outfit and invent an occasion to wear those.

I think that is what I will do!

I’m going to the opera in the autumn so maybe I can find a dress to go with them.

But the OP’s black jeans and top suggestion would be a good way of getting more wear out of them.

I love coloured heels with an all black outfit or with smart black trousers and a white shirt.

Turquoise is amazing, but you could ease in with metallics like silver sandals.

I have pewter/silver brogues and navy ones. I wear the silver ones with black tights, and navy ones with navy.

I like red, white and pink. Love those yellow shoes. I think yellow goes with everything.

I love coloured shoes, agree with pp though bright colour shoes look odd with heavy tights.I have every colour under the sun they always lift a smart pair of jeans/top/jacket combo, also look good with pretty summer dresses I have a coral linen dress that I usually wear with lemon heels, a lemon dress that I wear coral heels with & a navy dress that looks good with mint green/lemon/coral/pink heels.
Also have some leopard print shoes that look good with black trousers.
I have far too many heels, also have a box full of gold, silver & black. am also partial to bright or pattern loafers😳
Be brave & embrace some colour.

I suit pointed toe flats
Currently have them in grey, navy, black, rose gold, bright pink, cobalt blue and some patterned ones from moschino
Sometimes I’ll match them to something else I’m wearing other times just to brighten a very neutral black, grey or navy outfit

I bought my first pair of black shoes in a gazillion years but I won't ever wear them with tights. I only wear boots, with matching tights, in winter. To do otherwise is to make your legs look shorter IMO. And in winter, I only wear boots with skirts, for warmth.

I wear coloured shoes/boots with black opaques. I don’t like black opaques with black shoes/boots. I have been described as having a quirky style though.
