Capsule wardrobe for work

Need some help putting together a capsule wardrobe for work please. Everything I wear seems a mish mash at the moment.
I'll be spending two days a week at the office in meetings with quite senior colleagues, and working from home the rest of the time.
I did try a John Lewis personal shopper but everything she suggested was weirdly shapeless.
Have lots of Pinterest boards going on for clothes and feel overwhelmed by them!
Suggestions on how to put outfits together and what stores to buy from would be really appreciated.

Zara have brought out some great high waisted skinny trousers in blue and black - they’re great as have pockets and still look smart when worn with a nice cami and blazer if that helps?

A friend helped me with my work wardrobe and I now have three smart tees, 2 camis, a blazer, 2 skinny trousers, 2 dresses, a jumper and a few pairs of shoes (flats and heels) mainly bought from Zara and Warehouse.

It definitely helps to know which shops you like, and what you feel happy yet comfortable in.

I’d recommend, as a starting point:

  • a black or navy midi-length shirt dress (I have a black sleeveless one from Next)
  • drapey/crepe wide-legged trousers
  • black or navy cigarette pants
  • a couple of printed/patterned drapey (non-iron!!) blouses/shirts
  • silk blouse/shirt (Boden via eBay)
  • pencil skirt in a neutral dark colour
  • printed/patterned wrap dress or similar

I reckon if you can find the above, in fabrics and patterns you like, that wash well and feel comfy and smart, you’re halfway there. Then you can add a few tops in whatever colours and patterns you fancy and shows as you go along. Good luck!
