Clippering your own hair

Has anyone ever done this and if so what grade did you use? I have v short hair but it's costing a fortune to get trimmed every month so thinking of buying a clipper and size 12 guard which leaves hair about 1.5" long.

I’m a full time wig wearer due to alopecia so I keep my hair very clippered at a number 2. I’d struggle to do it completely by myself - I like it neat at the edges as I don’t wear wigs at the gym, or on very hot days. But having said that, I never go to the hairdresser - both my DH and DD can do a very competent job. So, it’s easy to do at home, but harder to do completely by yourself.

I clipper the back of my hair- number 4, then 3 at the bottom.
I've done it so often now I'm used to it- I use a headband to section off the hair I don't want to touch, and use 3 mirrors.
Clippers these days are great- it's hard not to get an even trim!
If you've got someone you trust to help, it'll be a doddle.

Yep. It is easy esp with a 12. I also go through the last 1/4 inch with thinning scissors so it looks less uniform - in a good way!

What clippers do you use @IwankaTramp ?
