What's your favourite summer lipstick?

Well, there's a nail polish one... So I thought I'd start one about lipsticks!
For me it's anything bright, orange, pink, purple and even blue and green. (Gosh flirty orange, Revlon fuchsia fusion, Urban Decay pandemonium, NYX little denim dress and MAC show and teal are a few examples.)
Although there are colours I wear all year round too, like black, grey and dark purple.

Great idea for a thread, I'm looking for some new colours to try! Grin

My current favourite is Wet n Wild fuschia with blue pearl (looks good with a navy top) you can use it almost as a stain too, if you want a subtler colour but its fantastic and doesn't dry my sahara like lips at all :)

What's your favourite summer lipstick?
SapphireSeptember · 19/07/2018 13:35

I've heard good things about Wet n Wild, shame they don't sell them over here. Fuchsia with blue pearl/shimmer is quite possibly one of my favourite shades of lipstick, I might have to see if I can get it from eBay! The Revlon one I mentioned is of a similar ilk. Smile

Slightly off topic but can I ask - do you have nice white teeth? I'd love to wear bright shades but I'm worried they make my teeth look REALLY yellow.

MadisonAvenue · 19/07/2018 13:40

MAC Vegas Volt and Tropic Tonic. I also like Benefit's Cha Cha Tint.

SapphireSeptember · 19/07/2018 13:54

I do not have nice white teeth. But I've never noticed any shade I wear make a difference to how my teeth look, I seem to take more notice of how they make my skin look, if you know what I mean? Orange make my skin look brighter, dark colours make me look rather pale (which is a look I go for), bright pink just works really well with my colouring, etc.

Amazon UK sell a lot of Wet n Wild Sapphire I'm not in the UK, and it is a lot easier to find them here though.

where I have pretty white teeth, ended up like that by accident, but when my teeth were yellower I just used to hold the shade up to my teeth to check, ones with a cool undertone usually make teeth look whiter :)

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 14:08

I do love Revlon lipsticks Sapphire cherries in the snow is one of my all time favourites :)

stoplickingthetelly · 19/07/2018 14:48

I'm wearing a No 7 one for daytime recently. It's called sweet copper and is a coral pink sort of shade. Bright enough for me to feel summery, but not so bright as to be overpowering or feel too 'night time'.

Wellhellothere101 · 19/07/2018 14:54

I’m watching with interest. I’m blonde and fair skinned and prone to looking a bit washed out so I’m going to try some of the suggestions to see if they might lift my complexion a little.

Lottapianos · 19/07/2018 14:56

I love NARS Schiap. It's very similar to the Wet and Wild Fuchsia colour pictured upthread. A lot more pricey that WnW, but nice semi matte formula and a fabulous colour

I've been using a lot of lipgloss these days, it feels more comfortable in the heat

SapphireSeptember · 19/07/2018 15:55

BlameItOnTheNeon I'll check out Amazon then, thanks for the tip! I love Cherries In The Snow too, it's a beautiful shade. I think Revlon do reds really well too. Smile Fire & ice is one that springs to mind.

Hello Lotta, how're you doing? I've wanted to try NARS for ages, but can't bring myself to pay over £20 on a lipstick! Grin

Now I've said that though Sapphire Amazon will probably only have the real bottom of the barrel shades in stock! Grin
Fire and Ice is great, I agree, Revlon do amazing reds.

Interestingly, a lot of Wet N Wild shades are very accurate dupes of MAC, and here WnW are usually less than a quid per lipstick, I was overjoyed when I first found them!

Wellhellothere101 · 19/07/2018 16:29

I’m on holiday in Los Angeles and I see Wet n Wild is a US brand so I’ll stock up while I’m here. Always love an excuse to visit a drugstore!

Lottapianos · 19/07/2018 16:44

Hello lovely Sapphire! I agree, £20 is pricey, and if I'm honest, the formula is no better than Revlon or Maybelline. The colour selection is gorgeous though. I also have Famous Red matte pencil - I love the colour. I have my eye on a few others too Grin

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 18:02

@Wellhellothere101 WnW bronzers are also amazing, the "reserve your cabana" is a dupe for one of the Hourglass light powders, and its the best highlighter I've ever tried, v v natural and really does give a lit from within look, I'd sworn off highlighters until I found it. "Ticket to Brazil" is an amazing bronzer too.
One thing though, the various Dollar stores (and Target) often do good ranges of WnW even cheaper than the drugstores.
The brand Mariposa often found in dollar stores is good too, excellent long lasting eyeshadows and their lip stains are fantastic too :) hope you enjoy your holiday :)

SapphireSeptember · 19/07/2018 19:09

BlameItOnTheNeon I found one on Amazon, for £34! Shock Plus £4 p&p! eBay has some that are much more reasonably priced, (think around a twentieth of the price) and with around the same sort of shipping, which I can live with.

Lotta Awww. Smile Glad I'm not missing much, even though some of their shades look really pretty I don't think they're unique enough in my collection to justify buying any. I've currently got a long list of Urban Decay lippies that I want before I can even think about anything else, and I'm trying to avoid buying any more MAC as I've now got 40 of the blighters! Blush Do you remember when I counted all my lippies in January? Well I've got more since then, even though I'm trying to be better. It's not working though.

I've had my eye on nars dragon girl and bobbi brown coral pop for a while now, but they're both so expensive.

beanaseireann · 19/07/2018 19:27

whereiscaroline
Orange, coral or peach shades of lipstick make your teeth look yellow.

Blue based reds and fuschia make them look whiter.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 19/07/2018 19:28

Sapphire ShockShockShock ignore my Amazon suggestion then!! Grin

beanaseireann · 19/07/2018 19:37

WetnWild is sold in Dunnes Stores Dublin I think.

Wellhellothere101 · 20/07/2018 03:59

Thanks @BlameItOnTheNeon
