Dress shrunk in the wash, can it be saved?

Hello all, when I was in Germany over the weekend before last I bought myself a lovely summer dress. Wore it twice, on the flight back and last Sunday, and washed it last night. Put it on this morning and it has shrunk quite a bit, roughly 8-10cm in length and one size around the bust. Feels really tight, when it didn't before.
The material is 100% Viscose. Is there anything I can do to get it "back to normal"?
For context, I know the brand I buy a lot there and never had this problem before with any of their garments. Also followed the washing instructions.

wet so it is soaking and then drip dry on a hanger? When dry, iron

Have you ironed it? I have a couple of viscose blouses that shrivel up in the wash but grow when ironed.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have contacted the company and hope for some sort of a solution.

As I didn't notice how much it had shrunk until I was well on my commute, I'll walk around looking like someone who shot up a lot over night Grin

I did this with a viscose dress about three weeks ago and sent it back for a refund.

Haven't ironed it, as it didn't need ironing, will try once home tonight.

The problem is that sending it back will be quite costly, but I'll wait and see what they say.

I find ironing viscose while it is still damp can reclaim quite a bit of shrinkage, but as a fabric, it’s a pita for doing that. I always tend to buy viscose on the big side for that very reason.

viscose usually stretches back out if you iron on low heat

I always give a viscose dress a really good pull and stretch while it is still wet then hang it . Also another stretch before putting it on .

Just wash it gently again, turn inside out and then iron. Viscose ‘shrinks’ when washed but easily returns to shape when warmly ironed. It’s just the way the fabric behaves.

Thank you all so, so much. Never had this problem before, so it was a bit of a surprise.

Just thought, have you heard of Ghost? As in Ghost London? I’ve got a lot of their original stuff and it was sort of a selling point that the viscose could be washed and shaped. Good luck!

Just wanted to Thank You all once again and say "It worked!!!".

Washed the dress again, pulled it gently into shape, put it on a hanger and then ironed about an hour later.

Worked a treat, dress back to original length and width.
