Which dress for an autumn wedding?

Indisdress · 18/07/2018 10:25

My friend is getting married in October. I thought I’d settled on a dress, thanks to you lot, but now I’ve seen another I quite like. So, opinions please on which of these two? Is the lacy part under the boobs of number two acceptable??

The v pattern of the red one emphasises the models tummy. I'd imagine the effect would be 10 fold on a non model.

I vote the floral dress.

Apileofballyhoo · 18/07/2018 10:59

As a dress, I like the red one better. But I'm not sure it's very weddingy. Also what Silver said.

HelloBrass · 18/07/2018 11:03

I like the red, but often bridesmaids are in red for autumn weddings so there's a risk it may be too similar. I don't know if that's really a problem but may be worth considering.

My friend once went to a wedding where the bridesmaids were in the EXACT dress she was in- a Ted Baker from the high street. It was a bit awks.

I much prefer the red, it's lovely.

That’s a good point @MoltonSilver Not sure i have the willpower to get the belly under such control!

@HelloBrass I think I should be able to find out the colour. I think I might have been told already, not sure though!

I really like the red too. Not even sure I’d suit the colour, it’s not one I normally wear.

I much prefer the floral. The red is too mother of the bride/Phase Eight

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 17:05

What kind of wedding is it? Country house/hotel? City hall? Church?

CocoCarrie · 18/07/2018 17:05

I'd go with the red one. Autumn may be a lil chilly so long sleeves will keep you warm (coming from someone who is always cold)

Indisdress · 18/07/2018 17:16

It’s a hotel.

And I’m always cold too!

What's wrong with phase eight?

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 18:20

I like the red one but I’d have the same concerns about the shape round the tummy.

What colours do you usually wear?

Fresta · 18/07/2018 18:45

I'd go for long sleeves for an autumn wedding- so red gets my vote!

I'm going to one at end of October and have bought this-www.lkbennett.com/product/CDLINNEASILKPrintCream~Linnea-Cream-Silk-Dress-Cream

I don't think I could bring myself to buy anything from a company called 'Little Mistress'. Would probably go for Plan C - whatever that is.

flumpybear · 18/07/2018 18:53

Floral one Grin

Bombardier25966 · 18/07/2018 18:58

What is your colouring? I like the red dress but it would be much more showy (lace panel wise) on a lighter skinned person, a bit much for a wedding.

TroubledLichen · 18/07/2018 19:01

The red one looks like a maternity dress with that bizarre shaped panel over the stomach. Don’t do it unless you want the waiters to skip you over for booze and everyone to congratulate you.

The first dress is lovely!

Butterymuffin · 18/07/2018 19:08

Weird stomach bit of the red dress rules it out.
