Is my eye makeup all wrong?

Hi makeup experts,

My routine is pretty much concealer then black eyeliner on top of eye, then corners. I’m not great with eyeshadow. I don’t know whether this is a dated look. Should I be putting white liner underneath? My eyes are big, my lashes long, but I’m worried I look dated and tired. Any tips?

I do my eye makeup the same, although I use eye-shadow too, I honestly don't think it matters if its dated or not, what suits you then its always going to look better than just what's on trend :) .

I have big, dark eyes, and black eyeliner seems to suit their proportions in relation to the rest of my face and makes them sparkle in a way going without black eyeliner doesn't.

Sorry, that's probably not much help! I do look at blogs to see ideas and how to apply techniques etc, have you found any blogs you like?

So you’re referring to winged eyeliner?

Honestly it is a bit dated in 2018. I definitely don’t bother with it anymore, much prefer lashes or intricate eyeshadow at night, and just eyeshadow/mascara in the day. I can say the same for my friends too. Winged eyeliner was very popular and a must, but I’ve noticed that a lot of makeup artists on Instagram have stopped now applying winged liner on their clients as much - it seems to be more ‘on request’ rather than ‘by default’. It’s just that no liner looks fresher, and your eyeshadow isn’t covered up as much.

However at the same time it is a classic look and you won’t look out of place with it. If you’re skilled at it and it suits you, carry on!

During the day, I use a light brown in my crease and a light neutral yellow on my lids with mascara and white eyeliner. It sounds basic but it gives my eyes enough definition without looking super done up (I wear foundation and everything else). I love bold eyes and glitter but it’s not appropriate at my work.

Like an Adele winged eyeliner look? It's fairly classic, I think. Not edgy, or cool, but then it never was.

no, I meant more just the corner, so darkening the corner bit. Not winged at all, but maybe different colour might work?
