Crying . I know that's stupid.

Flowers

Been there. So sorry. What have they done?

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 14:23

Thank you. That's kind. It was my own fault. I had a mid length bob which I liked. Just wanted a trim before hols. Now have short layered pike like cut. It's fine. It's just short and I need my little bit of hair.

It'll grow. Will have to wear earrings I guess.

That sounds very very similar to what happened to me. Buy sun hats. Is it long enough to tie or put up?

I wore hats and a tiny ponytail until it grew because it sort of looked the same as usual then.

Don’t go to the salon, or at least that hairdresser, again.

EnidButton · 14/07/2018 14:31

Not stupid at all. Flowers A haircut you don't like can really knock your confidence. I'm busy growing mine out atm.

Focus on the fact that it will grow. You won't always have it. Also no-one else is looking and thinking it looks bad.

I had very short hair as a teenager and it grew really really fast. Short hair cuts need 4-6 week trims because they grow out so quickly. In the meantime could you search on Pinterest for similar looking cuts to inspire you a bit? Might help you feel better about it.

Lastly, you'll get accustomed to it in a few days. It might just be the shock of having shorter hair. On the plus side you'll feel much lighter and cooler for Summer.

POst a photo so we can advise.

aaatozedd · 14/07/2018 14:56

poor you Flowers but how did you go in for a trim and come out with something completely different?
I remember reading that the difference between a bad haircut and an okay one is 2 weeks and I do find after 2 weeks things never seem so bad.
Treat yourself to a new lippy/earrings?

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 14:57

Thanks. Laughing now so that's better! It does feel nice and cool.

Won't be posting any pics.

I had this exactl hair cut when I was 13 and it wasn't a good look then! My hair does grow fast.

Yes was already having a mid life confidence wobble.

Earrings all the way. Pat butcher will have nothing on me. The hairdresser was very sweet with poor English and dodgy hair.

Turbans are surprisingly chic and go well with a statement earing.

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 15:05

Mmmm thank you but will hold off on a turban for now.

COuld you go somewhere else and get some colour put in, make it look a bit funky rather than boring?

aaatozedd · 14/07/2018 15:11

you could get a nice sunhat though Wink

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 15:13

Wow would never have thought of that. An interesting idea.May not go and do that but will definitely think funky.

Have been very lazy re make up and jewellery so this could be the push I need to up my game.

How about getting one of those free makeup counter makeovers? that could be a good boost. Good luck OP

Timefortea99 · 14/07/2018 15:18

According to reviews on Amazon Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner get good reviews for speedy hair growth.

At least it is cool in this weather. You are giving your head a holiday from the heat!

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 15:22

Yes on second thoughts will try to channel juliet binoche with sunhat and smoky eye rather than pat butcher...

If you blur out your face we can make hair style suggestions- hence photo request.

Pixies can look cool but can’t advise without seeing the length you have to work with 🙂

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 15:55

Well have taken my first selfie and downloaded photo editor. Don't know how to blur my face though.

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 16:00

I think you're right. The pic even looks OK. It's fine. Over the worst now. It was a shock.

SOunds like this could be the start of a new you! How great that MN can make you feel better within a couple of hours.
Go out tomorrow and get your makeup done, many need to highlight your bone structure a bit more with shorter hair.
You will be on holiday soon and it will have grown a lot by the time you get back.
Enjoy your hols.

Mitsouko67 · 14/07/2018 16:59

Thanks.I know it's amazing.mumsnet definitely cheered me up.Yes looking forward to hols in France. Can't complain really!!

I have very short hair and I use a little gel (Sainsbury's Basics) which I scoop up with 2 fingertips, rub into my hands then comb through to add definition to the layers. Not too much, as it can feel sticky. I rarely use a hairdryer - I know it's time for a trim when I have to.
