Best budget face oil?

thenorthernluce · 13/07/2018 21:09

Last night, I used the last drop of my Tata Harper cleaning oil. My maternity pay budget does not extend to this level of expense, but I was hoping for suggestions on budget alternatives! I’ve used and loved Clinique Take The Day Off balm, so I did think about trying the oil, but that’s still in the non-budget realm for me. Thoughts?

same range facial oil

LatteAndLettuce · 14/07/2018 10:55

Almond oil.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 14/07/2018 11:00

Yes almond oil is great
Use it as a hair treatment too. Apply to clean damp hair, wrap in warm towel. Shampoo out

OldJoseph · 14/07/2018 12:51

Simple do a good one. However, looking at the ingredients it's mostly grapeseed oil, so you could try that instead?

Wellhellothere101 · 14/07/2018 12:57

I used to use the L’Oreal cleansing oil which was only around £5 but I think it’s been discontinued now as I can’t find it in the shops.
I like this one Japanese cleansing oil
I also love the Una Brennan one linked above. Smells amazing!

mydogishot · 14/07/2018 13:03

Avocado oil approx £2:60 fro
Tesco.

I love it.

HurricaneHalle · 14/07/2018 13:05

Waitrose do an own brand one which is £5.

hettie · 14/07/2018 16:01

The sanctuary cleansing oil is nice

IcedPurple · 14/07/2018 16:29

Mydogishot

I use exactly the same avocado oil from Tesco! Great, isn't it? And you get enough for maybe the best part of a year for a few quid.

But really, I think any good quality cold-pressed oil will do. Avocado, almond, jojoba, even olive.... all are great and little to choose between them. There's simply no need to splash out £10 or more on those little bottles of 'cosmetic' oil as they're no better than a good quality oil you can buy in the supermarket or health food shop. Also, many of these 'facial oils' have essential oils added to them. While these smell lovely, they can damage the skin. You're better using just the plain oil.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/07/2018 16:30

The Ordinary Marula is lovely.

mydogishot · 14/07/2018 20:19

@IcedPurple

Yes! Slather it on after a bath, skin so soft!

GayParee · 14/07/2018 20:41

I really like the Superdrug B cleansing oil, is a proper cleansing oil that goes milky with water.

I cannot use normal like for cleansing as get massive cysts on jawline

JoolsSchmools · 14/07/2018 20:42

I use the simple cleansing oil. I also rate The Ordinary for moisturising facial oils.

ktjb39 · 14/07/2018 20:45

The boots no 7 oil cleanser was the best I found but they've discontinued it so I'm currently using the Simple one instead. Gets all make up off and washes off well with water, it just doesn't have a lovely smell!

zippyswife · 14/07/2018 22:38

Almond oil. Best thing that ever happened to my dry dehydrated sensitive skin.

andalittlebitofpixiedust · 15/07/2018 07:19

I use rosehip oil (about 5-6 drops) with one drop of castor oil. Argan oil might suit, grapeseed oil, almond oil, avocado oil..... The world's your oil-ster! Sorry about that.

SeaRabbit · 15/07/2018 08:40

Boots sell little bottles of almond oil on the pharmacy counter. I buy one bottle at a time as it doesn't have preservatives in, add some lavender and geranium essential oil, and put in a pump bottle I bought. Voilà, gorgeous scented facial oil.

atomicnotsoblonde · 15/07/2018 09:05

Superdrug vitamin E oil. Amazing stuff. Cheap as chips but fabulous. I also mix it with the ordinary nmf as my day cream. It feels incredible on.

Wellhellothere101 · 15/07/2018 09:10

@atomicnotsoblonde is the Superdrug vit E oil a cleanser or face oil to use after moisturising? If it's a cleanser I might give it a try next.

atomicnotsoblonde · 15/07/2018 14:19

It's the facial oil. I love it

atomicnotsoblonde · 15/07/2018 14:20

But you can use it to cleanse too

Wellhellothere101 · 15/07/2018 15:44

Thanks!
