Possible fluke beauty hack- Skin looks amazing!

Firstly, I have no idea if this is a good idea. It was a complete mistake, so I'm not saying everyone should try it. Certainly not if you have sensitive skin.

I was doing my weekly face mask with, what I thought, was my Avene soothing mask, but after a few minutes, I noticed quite a lot of tingling. I just thought maybe it was because my skin had been more exposed to the sun recently.

I went to wash it off after 15 minutes and my face was really pink. And I mean, PINK. Was a little sore, a bit burny, so I went to double check the tube, panicking at this stage that I'd put some sort of industrial cleaner on my face by mistake but it was actually just the Avene cleanse and polish, so basically just a cleanser. Obviously still not advised to leave on your face though.

Anyway, after about 30 minutes, my skin went back to it's usual colour, but it was like I'd had a professional facial. My skin looks and feels soooo smooth and I'd say it's taken a few years off me.

Again, I'm not suggesting you all go out and try this, but would be interesting to hear if anyone has done/does do this.

I left cleanse and polish on to answer a call instead of getting it off and my skin went very tingly and pink like I had dermabrasion - am going to do it again

I now want to try this - Is it a specific sanctuary one you used, eg the brightening cleanser? I don't mind if it burns my face off, and won't hold you liable...

The reaction sends a histamine reaction to your skin. Maybe like how vampire facials harm your skin and make it produce extra collagen to repair it. Your skin will look nice for a while but long term might not be ideal.

OK, didn’t last the 15 minutes, got too warm. Took it off and I’m very pink and still warm. Will report back at 9.00pm!

Skin nearly back to normal colour and just as keepon said it is smooooth.

It is also incredibly clean!

I look fresh faced. Don’t know if it’s taken years off me but I certainly look rested and I didn’t an hour ago! (Not brave enough to do before and after pics, sorry.)

As the OP said, I’m also not suggesting anyone does it but I’d do it again unless I can find out it is detrimental in the long term.

chauncey i'm not a skin expert so dont take me at my word. My reckoning is the more you do it the more your skin reacts badly making sensitivity worse in the long run.

Like when you have an allergy. It could possibly get worse over time. It might not but theres no gaurentee. Like when the sun damages your skin over time you get fine lines it may be the same if you irritate it over time. Now and again i doubt would do much harm.

Not that i can judge. Im allergic to most face masks. Like tonight i still put it on until i cant stand the burn anymore and wash it off as the histamine reaction makes my skin look squishier in a good way.
