Birkenstock and how to avoid fakes?

IwankaTramp · 13/07/2018 11:57

I oredered a pair of Mayari ones and sent them back as the footbed was just not supportive in the way I recognise Birkenstocks to be and the finish seeemd off. Since then I have read that Birkenstock are withdrawing all their stock off Amazon owing to their inability to tackle the counterfeit issue. Won’t be buying them on there again....

Apart from the main Birkenstock site which is pretty limited on variety and sizes who else is a reliable seller?

Thanks 🙂

Surely the big shoe chains like Office and Schuh, and department stores?

Brendatheblender · 13/07/2018 12:00

I get mine from Schuh or Office

DontCallMeCharlotte · 13/07/2018 12:02

I buy them from the Birkenstock site (the German one). They come pretty quickly and there's a massive variety on there - and if they're not on their website, surely they must be fake?

[Pleased I managed all variations of there/they're/their in one sentence!]

Hello. I can recommend Haflinger as a Birkenstock alternative. Equally supportive.
They are my preference now.

Try Shoegarden online (also stock Birkenstock), they're on sale at the moment I think.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/07/2018 13:22

I got some from Rubbersole, unfortunately had to return them but they were legit. They didn't stock the style I ended up keeping so those came from the Birkenstock website.

Not sure abut the clogs but that's DH's Christmas present sorted!

DontCallMeCharlotte, perfect Xmas present.
Might do the same...although OH drags his feet around like he's hauling kettle bells on the end of his legs so he probably drive me nuts with the shuffling Grin

mehhh · 13/07/2018 18:07

I bought mine from office I think it was! X

Are ebay ok if it is a shop?

Couldn't see any sale on official site

DartfordBridge · 13/07/2018 18:29

QVC sell them usually

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 13/07/2018 18:33

Tk maxx sell them for £25

Victoria889 · 13/07/2018 18:35

I've only ever bought them from tk maxx, they are half the price in there.

Are Birkenstocks good for plantar fascitis? I have it at the moment..very painful..and am trying to understand footwear. I need to buy slippers too as all of mine are flat and that is apparently very bad for plantar fascitis. I never knew footwear could be so confusing.

mayhew · 13/07/2018 18:50

They help with my plantar fasciitis

woodhill · 13/07/2018 18:50

I need narrow ones

UbercornsGoggles · 13/07/2018 18:54

I bought 2 pairs this week, half price, from Robin Elt shoes online. Slightly clunky website but they arrived very quickly and are definitely original.

Jayfee · 13/07/2018 19:07

Thanks Mathew. I will hobble to tkmaxx tomorrow. I might also call in at shuropody as apparently they are foot experts and sell shoes.

IwankaTramp · 13/07/2018 19:48

Thanks everyone Flowers
