I don't want acrylic nails anymore.

I'm just having my nails done and have decided after today I just don't want them done any more. I think they just look tacky now and want my natural nails back.

I've been having them done a good few years so what's the best way of getting my nails strong again?

Following with interest! I've had mine off for 6 months now and they are still a mess

I agree. I think short, manicured nails look better.

Get them off and go for regular manicures to get them back to healthy.

I had my acrylics off about 4 months ago and my nails are now long and strong! I very regularly push my cuticles back, file my nails to prevent splitting and keep them painted as this seems to protect them. Sally Hansen have some good strengthening formulas that I always use as a basecoat - check those out and apply religiously.

CND Solar oil on the cuticles, massage it in every night .

I don't use any nail products (not because I have lovely nails - I so don't) because of work. But I do use a buffer file and some L'Occitane shea cream to keep them under control.

I got shellac last October and my nails are still in bits. I must have the slowest growing nails in history.

On the plus side, I just picked up an Essie polish that says Colour & Treat or something like that & it's made them look nice & healthy, rather than peeling & flakey

Thank you for your responses. Last time I tried it I couldn't cope with not having long nails to do things with. I want a tiny bit of length.

Have them taken off.

You have a few options. You could just go natural for a few months and regrow healthy nails, or you could get gel polish put on them.

I’ve been using shellac and my nails are quite long after a few months.

CND solar oil, Barielle nail strengthener cream or Onyx Hard as Hoof, and OPI Nail Envy. I've never had acrylics but these products quickly restored my nails after 10 years of gels.

Thank you! I will get these products ordered for when I get my nails taken off.

Barry M does a ManiMask (I bought some for DD when she was growing her nails) worth a try?
