What can I wear now I am shaped like a ball?

I have always been pear shaped. Whether a size 8 or a 14 (when I gave up smoking)

The perimenopause has turned me into a size 14 ball shape. I look properly fat (I am 5 foot 2)

I just don't know what to wear any more. I think long and straight looks best?

I love wearing dresses (tea dresses and I love a maxi)

I look exactly like my mum did at my age. She never did a stroke of exercise, drove everywhere and ate badly. I go to the gym 4 x a week and eat pretty healthily. But it seems genetics will always win out.

I wore wide linen trousers and a loose top today. When I saw my reflection in a sjop window I coild have cried...

I didn't report your post. Again, you presume much.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/07/2018 17:34

What have I presumed? I merely questioned your statement that menopause and age have no effects on women's bodies. I can assure you, both from my own personal experience and that of many many women I know, that that is simply not true.

No assumptions. No presumptions. Just a statement of fact based on personal experience.

Bitoutofpractice my remark was directed more at Bluelady, but just because that is how the menopause affects you, it doesn't mean it affects everywoman, or even most women that way. I'm a bit fed up with GPs and other health professionals blaming everything on the menopause. Oh, you have eczema, must be skin changes due to the menopause, you have joint pains, must be the menopause. It saves them investigating things properly. Just that really.

Bluelady · 24/07/2018 18:59

My reaction would have been entirely different if you'd said that. You didn't. You poo pooed our blaming the menopause for our vanishing waist lines. Particularly annoying when it's happened to so many of us.
