The Perfect Body Cream

I'm hunting for the perfect body cream/moisturiser. I have sensitive and dry skin so need something rich and moisturising but also want a lovely lasting scent. So far I've tried:

Neil's Yard Bee Lovely - lovely honey and orange scent, thick cream which doesn't rub in very well and only keeps my skin smooth for a couple of hours: 5/10

Aveeno Lotion with Almond Oil - skin stays nice and hydrated and the scent is nice but quite mild. 7/10

Lush Dream Cream - really soothing on the skin, very moisturising absorbs quickly, not too heavy. Scent is a bit weird. 8/10

Elemis Sea Lavender and Samphire Body Cream - smells lovely but is quite thin/watery and doesn't keep my skin moisturised for long. 6/10

Am I asking for the moon on a stick? Please tell me someone has found the perfect light yet rich, buttery, beautiful smelling cream!

I love Aveeno when my leg are feeling a bit dry and scaly. It doesn’t really smell of much though.

Bit old school, Body Shop body butter is always great. I don’t like anything too fragranced and they’re just enough.

I don’t mind the Sancuary Spa body lotion from Boots either.

Bubba1234 · 11/07/2018 16:11

Keihls body corps is that what it’s called the yellow moisturizer

Origins A Perfect World

I've just discovered Child's Farm Baby Moisturer and I love it. It's £3.99 from Boots. Easily absorbed smells lovely and if perfect on my sensitive skin.
Try it - you won't be disappointed!

I've tried dozens over the years but Palmers cocoa butter can't be beaten. They also do a fragrance free if you are a weirdo and don't like the fragrance.

Lanaa · 11/07/2018 18:16

Ive used them all - I do my whole body twice a day. My current fave is ten Dr Organic Seasalt one from Holland and Barrett. If you're dry skinned then Astral works well and smells nice. I'm also rather fond of Dream Cream.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2018 18:19

Would you consider an oil, OP?

Weleda Buckthorn is lovely.

ImPreCis · 11/07/2018 18:27

Kiehls Creme de Corps, the very best, and I love the soft fragrance, but it is expensive.
I think Dream Cream from Lush is a good second.

MrsMarigold · 11/07/2018 18:34

Generally I use Vaseline intensive care in the white bottle but for special occasions and if my budget was bigger I would use Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey Body Cream, it's so luxurious but it's also £52 which is a bit much considering how I love to slather myself in it.

Potplant · 11/07/2018 18:41

Cismyass - I used Palmers by the truckload when I was pregnant to stave off stretch marks so when I get a whiff of it, it reminds me of feeling sick all the time. I can’t stand it now.

Twofishfingers · 11/07/2018 18:43

I use this one and it is very good

Kiehl creme de corps

There is no other brand you need - it’s expensive yes, but it lasts ages and it’s unbelievable. I have weird skin too!

Pancakeflipper · 11/07/2018 18:59

I have begun using Loccitaine Almond Supple body oil. Love it. My skin feels and looks better - even dared to get my legs out in this heatwave. I have a lot of scars on my legs from an accident years ago and I am convinced they have reduced.

QuilliamCakespeare · 11/07/2018 19:12

You lot are brilliant. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'm going to make a list and work through all of these budget permitting

@Lanaa Astral sounds amazing just from the name!

lemonnmeringuepie · 11/07/2018 19:16

Palmers for sure!

MerryDeath · 11/07/2018 19:21

could you not just use a moisturiser that works for your skin and then use a (probably much nicer) perfume of your choice? particularly if you have sensitive skin.. if this is true you really want to keep anything unnecessary like 'fragrance' out of your product.

QuilliamCakespeare · 11/07/2018 19:25

@ChardonnaysPrettySister Ooh, yes. And I buy Weleda soap for the kids - it's lovely.

QuilliamCakespeare · 11/07/2018 19:27

@MerryDeath The sensitivity is mostly on my face and scalp; I seem to be able to put anything on the rest of my body without too much issue - dryness is the main problem elsewhere. I'm really noticing it at the moment because this warm weather means my legs have been on show a lot.

Palmers!

ChishandFips33 · 11/07/2018 19:29

I swear by Aveeno now but not for the smell!

Soap and Glory righteous butter is better smelling and not bad for moisturising - cheap too!

KOKOagainandagain · 11/07/2018 19:41

Biotherm Baums oil therapy or anti dying body milk smell gorgeous and are very moisturising. Quite Expensive (for me) but 400 mls lasts for ages. First bought at duty free but now order from Amazon.

Fullfatlatte · 11/07/2018 20:15

I adore Clarins Moisture rich body lotion. Highly recommend 😀

Sammysquiz · 11/07/2018 21:15

Aveeno - the one with shea butter. I’ve tried loads, and this is the best by far.

MyUsername200 · 11/07/2018 21:16

I really like Body Shop products for dry sensitive skin. I've tried the body yogurts which are really quick at absorbing and the moisture lasts all day on my skin. The body butters are also very good but take a lot longer to sink in however they seem more buttery if that's what you're after.
The body milk is also lovely, I love the smell of the moringa one, a gorgeous fresh floral scent.
Reading this back it sounds like I work for them but I promise I don't!
