Short pixie crop - thinning hair

I've had the same hairstyle for about 6 years, it's a short pixie type crop. Love how quick and easy it is to maintain.

I'm coming up to 40 and I've seen a few pictures of me on SM taken from behind. It looks like I have a bald patch at the back. Confused

Any advice? I'll grab a pic and add it.

One of the pics. What do you think I should do?

I'm not sure that is a bald patch. Is it not just where the hair parts? Can you not make it a bit messier and add a squirt of hairspray to cover?

That's right, it's where the hair is parting, but just looks like a massive bald patch.

I had used a volumising mouse, matte texturising clay on the roots, a light wax spray on the ends and then hairspray to finish. I'm now using wasting money on a follicle plumping shampoo as well.

It still looks like a bald spot, right?!

I’m a full time wig wearer because of alopecia. My suggestion would be get to your GP, have a full thyroid panel, vit D and ferritin done before anything else. These are all treatable causes. It’s hard to see what the edges look like but she should be able to identify if it’s a fungal thing. Don’t be fobbed off, get anything that needs corrected treated sooner rather than later. As for concealment, as short and texturised as you can usually helps. You can also get fibre powder stuff called toppick which does help conceal, though I couldn’t stand the stuff.

And yes, I agree, it does look like a bald spot. Good luck.

Agree with getting full blood check at 40 you may be low in oestrogen which contributes to thinning hair.

You could go a lighter shade and shorter to disguise it or there are plumping powders on market which are good.

Thanks for the replies.

I already know I struggle with iron levels and am anaemic or become anaemic. I get my levels checked every 3 months and then get an iron infusion when low.

I also take vit d 20,000 thingys as struggle to maintain healthy levels. I get a full blood check for deficiencies every 12 months.

I also have vit B12 injections, zinc, calcium and a few other vits and minerals at prescription strength.

Not had oestrogen checked though...shall ask the doctor. I have very painful and heavy periods and have asked for sterilisation but gynaecology said no.

Will give the disguising techniques a go. Thank you

I’d maybe go spikier at the crown, a bit messier, get some highlights and redken quick tease spray

Thanks everyone, will give all suggestions a go. I've invested in another mirror, so that I can obsessively check my bald spot!!
