Wedding is in a hotel at the end of July, l’ll wear it with a pair of white strappy sandals and take a blue pashmina or something similar? I’ve put a lot of weight on recently and don’t trust my own judgement Confused

I think it's lovely and you look lovely in it.

dontcallmelen · 11/07/2018 19:19

It’s very pretty, I would go with silver accessories though rather than white, you look lovely.

IwankaTramp · 11/07/2018 19:22

No. Looks like a beach dress. Suits you but not for a wedding.

Honestlyhelpful · 11/07/2018 19:27

You look great in it! I looks quite casual (despite being very pretty) but I think it depends on the wedding venue. Could you wear a fascinator or hat to dress it up?

dontticklethetoad · 11/07/2018 19:27

You do look fab in it, and maybe if you had a proper up do or good blow dry (and silver sandles), it would be nice for a wedding.
It is just on the wrong side of casual.

wishingitwasfriday · 11/07/2018 19:35

Please keep in mind that people dress differently and feel un/comfortable in different styles. I live by the cost and that would class as 'dressed up' but when I go to Newcastle to visit friends I feel far too casual even on a day out. If you feel comfortable in it then wear it. I think it looks lovely btw!

Corcra · 11/07/2018 19:37

So pretty and flattering. I’d go strappy tan sandals and aqua toe nail polish. The blue pashmina sounds lovely with it. I think with hair and make up done you’ll be only gorgeous.

Thebluedog · 11/07/2018 19:50

Thank you all for the comments. The venue isn’t particularly posh, more of a relaxed hotel, so I think ill go for it. I find it difficult to find something I like, that suits me. As I said, I’ve put quite a bit of weight on so don’t know what suits me. Shift dresses just make my tummy look huge and legs look really chunky, and I really don’t feel comfortable in myself.

@lindyloo57 it’s from Wallis, it comes in a red colour too but red just washes me out.

That is not a beach dress! That on a beach would be wet and covered in sand in 3 seconds! Who in their right mind would wear such a long dress on a beach??! It's a lovely dress and fine for a wedding. Definitely more votes for than against so far OP.

Ellapaella · 11/07/2018 19:52

It looks lovely.

katienana · 11/07/2018 19:55

It's nice but you look like you have a lovely figure op are you sure you can't do better? The shape does seem to suit you if you're conscious of certain areas though would a more structured fabric help you out more? Does look.like a lovely summery dress and you look fab.

Bezm · 11/07/2018 20:03

It looks great. But I'd wear flat silver or gold sandals. Where is it from?

lindyloo57 · 11/07/2018 20:04

Thanks Thebluedog i will take a look.

haverhill · 11/07/2018 20:08

I like it. It’s completely appropriate for a relaxed summer wedding.

EveningHare · 11/07/2018 20:12

Yes - you look lovely

lostfrequencies · 11/07/2018 20:16

Thumbs up from me!

MitMopse · 11/07/2018 20:28

Perfect for a summer wedding, you look lovely. Enjoy yourself!

BackforGood · 11/07/2018 20:36

I agree with Apollo and others.
It is a nice dress, and you look lovely in it, but it looks too casual for a wedding to me. It isn't that is doesn't suit you or look nice or anything - it does. It just doesn't match the occasion.

Sittingonaspindryer · 11/07/2018 20:42

I wouldn't. Definitely looks like a beach/holiday dress to me. But, that might be a reflection on the fairly formal weddings I tend to go to.

hadmeathello · 11/07/2018 20:44

I agree with those who say you look lovely but it's too casual for a wedding.

makeupmaven · 11/07/2018 20:54

It's lovely, but too casual for a wedding. That's a holiday or beach dress to me.

Lotsofsausage · 11/07/2018 21:02

if you glam it up with nice shoes, accessories then yes, best to feel comfortable.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 11/07/2018 21:07

Op if you’re happy with the dress and feel it’s appropriate, and only you know how dressy the other guests attending the wedding will be, then wear it. The most important consideration is that you feel confident, attractive and comfortable in your outfit.

Also you may feel like you put on a lot of weight, but from the photo you posted you look in proportion, toned with a lovely shape, and certainly don’t appear overweight.

I was one of the people who commented that it may not be right for a wedding, but frankly what the hell do I know? Have a lovely time

troodiedoo · 11/07/2018 21:09

You look lovely, dress is perfect for a summer wedding. I would go with a darker blue pashmina to keep it smart for the ceremony. How are you having your hair?

Thebluedog · 11/07/2018 21:58

troodiedoo I was going to leave my hair down, but after the comments on here, I think I’ll have an updo at the hairdressers. I’m taking my 2 dd’s to get there’s done, as a treat for the wedding, so I might book myself in with them.
