Bleached hair troubles

I'm really hoping someone can give me any tips please.

I'm very naturally dark but also very grey (have been since I was 16 years old) I have recently started to have my hair bleached and toned to lighten it, to blend the greys. Aiming for caramel blonde.

I love the colour, but my hair is no matted after every wash. I have never had this problem before and it's really starting to get my down.

I usually do 2 shampoos and conditioner. I also use a deep conditioner mask once or twice a week. It just doesn't seem to be making a difference.

Thanks in advance

My hair has never recovered from being bleached so watching with interest.

If you're having it professionally bleached; does the salon have advice?

I know from listening out to conversations whilst having my hair cut that my salon warns people that bleaching grey hair can cause a lot of damage that it's difficult to remedy. Could you bleach it less; and try to get professional conditioning treatments in between?

Go to a salon for an Olaplex treatment. It's a bond rebuilder so will help with returning some condition to bleached hair. My hair has never fully recovered from being bleached but keratin treatments, lots of moisturising with deep conditioners and masks and Olaplex have made it bearable.

YY to everything law said.

Also comb your hair with a wide tooth comb when conditioning and rinse out gently with shower. Then pat hair dry. I use kerastase oleo relax in towel dried hair (from half way down), comb with wide tooth comb and dry naturally in a loose pony tail.

Only do one shampoo and a conditioner. There is one called Jerome Russell jplex bond rebuilder. You can either use as normal conditioner ie leave on for a couple of minutes- and as pp said, wide comb it through, or you can leave it on for 20 minutes as a deep conditioner. I get it on eBay or in Superdrug.
I went from black hair to caramel blonde due to greys and this got rid of the matting problem you described.

I use Josh Wood hair dye now to maintain it. Light blonde (8.5). It has no ammonia so now I don't get the matting problem so much now.

I buy the big bottles of bed head high octane shine, the pink bottles, from b&m or sometimes they have it in tk maxx. It's £9.99 for a litre and has been the only thing that keeps my bleached hair looking and feeling like hair!

bookbuddy · 08/07/2018 01:41

I use conditioner then wash maybe worth a try? I also use tigi purple hair mask once a week.

bookbuddy · 08/07/2018 01:42

Oh and I use John Frieda heat protect serum after washing.

princesstiasmum · 08/07/2018 10:21

moonflower where would i get the Josh Wood from? i dont want to keep going over my hair with anything with peroxide or ammonia in
Thanks in advance

I'm naturally a brunette, but have been taken to a light ash blonde à la many, many highlighting sessions.

First off - Olaplex (or the L'Oreal equivalent, Strong Bonds?) with every bleach. Every time!

Invest in a weekly treatment. I like the ever-lauded Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, but it's admittedly pricey. Superdrug do a nice dupe in their Argan Oil Pre-Shampoo Elasticising Treatment at a mere £4.

And finishing oils. Invest in a good one, any argan oil will do, and a heat-protectant if you're a styling fiend!

Use sulphate-free shampoos and a good moisture mask. I’ve started using Its a 10 miracle leave in, not blow drying (using Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It) or straightening and smoothing with oil after it’s dried.

So sorry for the late reply, my internet connection has been playing up.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I think I know where I have gone wrong. I have been using touch of silver shampoo once or twice a week but stupidly used the touch of silver conditioner. I forgot to mix both products in with my usual products and used it straight.

You need to leave longer between bleaches! Are you havin highlights or full head of bleach? Highlights are much kinder!! And for now gran some of the red bed hair I think it's called hair rescue or something. Shampoo and conditioner is amazing for bleached hair!
