Please suggest me a nice (not v expensive) brand. I need to buy a dress for interview. I have been out of work for many years. Is it okay to wear a cardigan with a dress instead of a blazer. I am 5-3' and size 10ish.

thanks :)

Entirely depends on the job ! Can you give us some idea ?

NotMeNoNo · 06/07/2018 19:18

Tricky in this weather but I think a dress on its own or with a blazer would be better than a cardigan. It's another thing when you've got the job. Next?

PinkysEars · 06/07/2018 19:35

Depends too how you're defining expensive.

Finery?
Massimo Dutti?
Uniqlo?
Cos?
Kitri?

PinkysEars · 06/07/2018 19:38

Sorry, lost a sentence:

Would be good to know a budget/amount you have in mind and also yes, the sector you'll be working in.

dudsville · 06/07/2018 19:39

A cardi will look odd in this weather, but it's much more important how you manage the interview.

Redcrayons · 06/07/2018 19:44

Depends on the job, But I'd say cardi is a no. In this weather, you could probably get away with a nice short sleeved tailored dress.

Redcrayons · 06/07/2018 19:46

Also meant to add, Next is always a good shout for workwear. Not very exciting, but does the job.

goingtobeaninja · 06/07/2018 20:18

Thanks everyone :)

Job is with a not so formal, relaxed well known charity org.

I agree cardigan is a bit odd in this weather but I could never found a blazer which would fit me well, even years ago when I was slimmer. Now I have a bit of belly.

Is it okay to just wear a dress?
Otherwise I will look for blazers. I want to look professional, and serious about the job.

I don't want to spend more than £150 in total (dress and blazer/cardigan).

Thanks you all again :)

In that case yes I would wear dress and lightweight suit jacket. Could you get a boxy jacket with cropped sleeves perhaps rather than a blazer ?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 06/07/2018 20:30

I work for a charity - I did wear a sort of knitted jacket with a dress for my interview. H&M I think for the jacket

Redcrayons · 06/07/2018 20:43

You could get away with this sort of thing www.next.co.uk/g6746s1 without a jacket in this weather.

LightAsTheBreeze · 06/07/2018 21:58

Next sale is on tomorrow, I would pop in and you might find something, the Next dress linked above looks fine as it has small sleeves

goingtobeaninja · 08/07/2018 22:04

Thanks everyone. I had problems with my internet.

Please tell me which one you like from photos? Many thanks.
