Bikini wax woes! Hair growth between waxes

Hi all

I started having bikini waxes (hot wax)?back in April. I’ve had about 4. So far so good. However, I’ve found that my hair starts growing back in just under a week which I’ve been disappointed about. Because of this, I’ve been getting waxed quite frequently.

During my most recent wax, 2 weeks ago, I had 3 weeks of hair growth. The beautician was not majorly impressed as at my salon they recommend approx 5 weeks between sessions, and she said next time I should wait 4 at least.

However, it’s been just over 2 weeks since my last wax and I’m itching to get another one as I’m away this weekend and hair looks long ish already.

I will have to just go to a different salon as im a bit bored of my own beautician telling me off all the time!

Does waiting 4-5 weeks seem excessive to anyone else? Is it worth trying after 2 weeks?

My beautician usually recommends six weeks as standard but as my hair growth is quicker, I go every five so no I don’t think it’s excessive. Everyone has a slightly different growth rate, the important thing is that the hair is long enough to be picked up by the wax. Although it may appear long to you, it may be just a bit short to be waxed effectively.

No harm in trying after two weeks, if it doesn’t work, then at least you’ll know it’s too soon.

Thanks, SleeplessMomma. I’ve done some googling and found evidence of a few women saying they go for “touch up waxes” after 2 weeks, rather than shaving, because worst case scenario is that the wax doesn’t quite get all the hair, whereas with shaving you’re back to square one.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried this

Have you thought about laser hair removal if you can’t cope with the regrowth?

This is why I don't think waxing regularly really works. I've only ever done the bikini line and I get regrowth within a week with the salon only doing waxes once a month. So basically you'd be hair for 3 of the 4 weeks. What's the point?

For me it's a long term thing . After about 10 years of waxing ( in my early thirties now ) there's barely any regrowth now and I can just zap it myself with wax strips. And I have naturally thick , dark hair .
