I want to buy something from & other stories, it’s a £90 dress and they want to charge me £7 for delivery! This makes me very cross.
Does anyone know of a way to circumvent this or a discount code? I’m not a new customer so I can’t get the 10% off first order offer they do

Hopeful bump

Is there a store near you that they can ship the dress to? Would that be free?

Paintbox · 04/07/2018 06:56

Thanks, No there isn’t and I’m not sure they do that. I don’t know why their delivery is so expensive, it seems unreasonable to me. It’s free over £120 which I think is a lot

I was shocked at the delivery cost as well, ordered a skirt there for the first time, so I managed to get 10%. I know it's a minimal saving, but you can click and collect for £5.

How can they justify charging so much for delivery? Does anyone know, when you return something, on they refund the delivery costs?

theothermum · 04/07/2018 08:24

You know that you pay the delivery cost anyway, whether explicitly or not ? Other stores just calculate it in the cost of the garment. No store absorbs the cost put of generosity for its customers...
my view is skewed though as I am not in the UK so I pay delivery every time and I don't get free returns.

Paintbox · 04/07/2018 09:09

I know theothermum, but to have to add £7 onto an already fairly expensive dress makes it unpalatable for me. So many shops here offer free delivery or at least much cheaper so it definitely puts me off ordering.

Can you use a different email address to get the 10%? I have registered multiple times with different accounts, and for my last order used my DP’s email. I also use the click and collect which is slightly cheaper.

NameChangeUni · 04/07/2018 12:46

To be fair, & Other Stories is generally a more pricey retailer vs your average high street store, so it makes sense that their free delivery threshold is higher as their products are more expensive and their customers are generally more wealthy or willing to spend more money vs H&M etc.

If anything, can’t you just make a new account to get the free delivery code?

If I was spending £90 on a dress, £7 delivery wouldn’t particularly annoy me.

Paintbox · 04/07/2018 13:15

Well it does annoy me namechange, £90 for a dress is a lot for me and I really don’t want to make it almost £100

Yes Judy I could do that I suppose, thanks. I’ve already registered both my email addresses but I could use dh’s

Sorry to hijack the thread, just wondered what the quality was like on their items? As I mentioned earlier, I'm a first time customer of theirs.

Bluelady · 04/07/2018 18:35

Order something else to take the order over £120 then send it back at their expense. I always do this.
