Work shoes- smart or silly idea?

Finding suitable shoes to wear for work is always so damn difficult.

I have to wear a suit for work so need plain black shoes to match. I'm not on my feet all day but do have to move about frequently and do a fair bit of walking so I don't want anything with too big a heel. One of my feet is a size bigger than the other, so I can't wear anything that is a slip-on style but must have a strap of some sort.

Applying those criteria you end up with so few options to choose from. The only shoes I can ever find tend to be from Clarks or Gabor, and tbh, they never produce a very elegant shoe. I'm not a fan of a block heel at that height as I think it just looks clumpy and somehow the toe always looks snub and wrong.

But I have just had a bright idea, and was wondering if it is a silly or sensible one - look at sellers of dance/Latin/ballroom shoes and suddenly there are dozens of styles to chose from. I am going to get a pair of these, what do you think?

Won't the soles be unsuitable for outdoor wear? They're made for feeling and gripping a dance floor, not pounding gritty concrete pavements. Unless you only want to wear them in a carpeted office?

Hmm, fair point. Do you have any dance specific shoes? Would it be possible to get a cobbler to glue on a more durable sole?

I agree that the type of shoe probably makes them unsuitable for everyday wear. However, if you like that style these Joe Browns are similar. You could replace the ribbon with different laces.

Some Latin shoes are soft soled but others can be worn outside .I've bought from dance shoes online. They are really comfortable . I've worn them for balls/wedding rather than to work but I can't see why they wouldn't work if.you are indoors.
