Trying to find something dressy but not too formal for a posh-ish party later in the week. Is this nice or nasty? I tried it on and it is v flattering, but can't decide:

It's OK. Like the twist detail but not so keen on the skirt. I sometimes feel a bit 'glamorous granny' in Mint Velvet but since I'm nearly 50 maybe that's not that surprising. If you're younger that won't be such a problem.

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 02/07/2018 18:33

I like it a lot

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 18:37

I am similar age CountFosco and that is my worry! But it does look lovely on, nicer than it looks in the photos. It skims everything that I would prefer to skim. It was also a bargain at less than half price!

Are you a teenager? If so go for it. If not then don't unless you look like a teenager. Most people couldn't pull that off.

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 18:39

I have thick, shoulder length corkscrewy hair, which I am hoping may negate the glam gran vibe?

Racecar see my reply to Count. Teenage years long gone.

Depending on your shape I think or might look better with a belt? It's not a bad looking dress but there is just something about it that does not look quite right....could be just the pattern on the pic which makes it look a bit weird.

hugoagogo · 02/07/2018 18:43

I love itSmile

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 18:44

I am quite short Millipedewithherfeetup amd belting things doesn't really suit me.

Mercurial123 · 02/07/2018 18:44

I don't like it the pattern isn't nice

enjoyingscience · 02/07/2018 18:49

The print is ok, but the 'cape style back' is a little bit superhero birthday party. This one www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/-/13555?dd_rec=023012182|y|bwso has a similar vibe but without the cape craziness?

MsHomeSlice · 02/07/2018 18:51

have you got good boobs, and a decent bra? I think it needs a little curve to fill it out.

I quite like it, but that model....dearie me....it does her no favours and she looks like she has just been kipperslapped!

TroubledLichen · 02/07/2018 18:51

From the picture it looks like maternity wear to me. I think it’s the twist then placement of the graphic. Maybe it looks better in real life though?

DextroDependant · 02/07/2018 18:51

I think it looks like something off the market, sorry OP it's a no from me.

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 18:53

Heh, I quite like the superhero cape bit as it disguises the backs of my knees,

MsHomeSlice I do have good boobs, my best feature along with my hair!

DextroDependant · 02/07/2018 18:58

I really like the one that @enjoyingscience linked to.

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 19:00

I don't like that one @enjoyingscience but thanks for the suggestion.

Tryingtogetitright · 02/07/2018 19:04

I like it a lot, can't see anything wrong with it. Bet it looks better in real life.

anchovyomelette · 02/07/2018 19:18

Have just discovered that I have accidentally shrunk the only other dress I considered wearing! So that's it, I'm wearing this one!

Although I do have one other alternative, which I do love, but I feel like a ship in full sale due to boobage:
