Sandals like trainers?

I'm looking for I'm looking for some sandals that are as comfortable and secure as trainers but also don't look awful... My style leans more towards edgy/androgynous/minimal so nothing with loads of thin straps etc. Teva look ok in a sort of sporty way but are there better ones?

Following with interest. I'm going on holiday to Croatia in August, and am planning on doing quite a bit of walking. My normal walking footwear is a pair of cosy, lined Caterpillar boots Grin. I have no idea what to wear on my feet.

Clarks, ECCO, Earth Spirit are worth a look.

I've just bought these m.ellis-brigham.com/products/teva-womens-terra-float-2-universal-sandals/235706 they're somewhere between fugly and great... I like birkenstocks tho
They're comfy and good for wandering around a city.

DeltaG · 02/07/2018 15:05

Sorry OP, they all look awful! There really is no way around it. Practical and comfortable they might be, but stylish they are not!

I live in a mountainous place (Switzerland) and for summer hiking have open mesh-style trail shoes. For city sightseeing, I opt for a flat leather sandal if it is very hot, or converse/stan smiths/gazelles if just warm.

You might like wolky sandals. I think they’re ugly but my dm reports they are very comfy.

ArtfulPuss · 02/07/2018 15:19

I'm still wearing the remnants of a pair of Merrell hiking sandals that must be over 15 years old. Current equivalent looks to be Merrell Kahuna III, though for some reason they only seem to do a pale beige colour for women (mine are black, like the Kahuna III men's version). My old ones are comfortable, with v. grippy sole, and have survived a lot of adventures. Have been v. happy with them + would buy Merrell again (if they made the men's ones in my size).

I've been pottering around the internet and found this:

At least 2 or 3 of these actually look.....all right Shock

One of which is the Clarks sandal at £40, which is cheering to someone with limited retail options who is, however, within reasonable distance of some Clarks shops Smile

Oh NO! That's last year's article! Sorry Blush

puglife15 · 03/07/2018 21:50

Thanks everyone. I have Saltwaters which lots of people think are fugly, they are comfy but I walk at least 1 hour 20 mins a day quite fast including up and down big hills and my feet are taking a pounding. Adidas Stan Smiths are great but too hot and I hate Converse, they kill my feet.

Will have a look at Clarks. Wolky are indeed fugly.

How about Birkenstocks?

tdm1 · 03/07/2018 22:30

Keen

chronofix · 03/07/2018 22:30

Keens? Not lovely though.

Nike rifts?

LockedOutOfMN · 04/07/2018 00:43

I would stick to lightweight Asics or Nike; I don't think trainers can be that much hotter than sandals.

PandaPieForTea · 04/07/2018 00:46

I have these and they are super comfortable.

HyacinthsBucket70 · 04/07/2018 06:45

I bought these earlier this year, and can honestly say they are the comfiest sandals I've ever owned from day one. They go with most things and aren't too fugly. I've also got some flip sandals from Keen and they are surprisingly supportive for walking.
