What sunhats are you all wearing?

I've a longish oval face with pretty thick long shoulder length hair. No fringe though but a massive head. Seems to be a family trait.

Wonder what you're all wearing apart from baseball caps esp in the sunny days we are currently experiencing.

Any recommendations also welcome.

Ooo, are you me? I am following for ideas!

Gingernaut · 01/07/2018 11:16

I'd love to know.

I'm not wearing any hat because I feel like a right pudding.

No one else is wearing a hat (aside from baseball caps) and I really could use some pointers.

So far, I've not burnt wearing spf50, but I do have an odd 'Nike swipe' of darkened freckles on my right cheekbone.

Chanelprincess · 01/07/2018 15:19

Melissa Odabash and Rag and Bone are among my favourites. Try Reiss for cheaper alternatives.

I have ordered this floppy sun hat for poolside and beach on holiday but at home I stick to factor 50 and sunglasses

Appuskidu · 01/07/2018 20:23

I was thinking of getting one of those bandana things for our upcoming beach holiday as I do tend to get headaches! Are they horribly ‘aging hippy’?!

None because I hate hats

SeraphinaDombegh · 01/07/2018 20:52

One of these, from Sainsbury's. Fits my largeish head and goes with most things!

Do you keep hair down? I have thick hair and tend to put it in a low side bun, but I can't seem to make that work with a hat.

dirtyprettything · 01/07/2018 21:13

Fatface straw hat

Hobbes8 · 01/07/2018 21:17

Ugh I really struggle with hats. I have very very thin fine hair and my parting and the front of my scalp burn easily. I have a floppy straw hat from Debenhams but it’s a bit too small for my apparently massive head (another body part I wasn’t aware I had to worry about until stupid clothes manufacturers failed to cater for it. See also: calves).

I also have a quiksilver baseball cap but I’m 40 and feeling a bit old for it.

Gingernaut · 02/07/2018 14:23

Found a white fedora style hat in a River Island seconds and clearance shop.

Can't find a link to it.

HeyMicky · 02/07/2018 14:30

I have a straw fedora, a straw boater and a navy military cap, which is more flattering than a baseball cap, I think

Babybearsporij · 02/07/2018 20:40

I have an oval face and thick hair, same as you OP. I found amazing hat in Home Bargains, of all places. It was something like £2.49, straw trilby style with a pattern woven in & pom pom trim. It;s decent quality and fits my pea head as well. I love it.

They did have other straw trilby style hats there as well, but they were all too big for me.

Eminybob · 02/07/2018 20:45

I have this one from ASOS. It has an a adjustable band for all head sizes.

Sorry for some reason can’t post a link - it’s £12

LockedOutOfMN · 02/07/2018 21:38

I've a square face and medium length straight hair. I'd say me head size is around average as hats tend to fit me fine (but aren't too big or loose, generally). I'm wearing this and last year's version of this which is a uniform light greyish silvery colour for day to day. I live in Spain so a hat is essential for daytime for much of the year.

I've also got one of these which is a bit more delicate so worn for slightly more special occasions, i.e. not to work / shops.

I sometimes wear a visor to run although since May I've been mostly running after sunset as it's too hot, or just going to the gym as my pollen allergies have been quite bad. I don't really like anything on my head when running so more often than not I just slather on sunscreen.

LockedOutOfMN · 02/07/2018 21:38

That's a lovely hat, Eminybob.

What do we think of sun visors?

M&S

Gingernaut · 03/07/2018 23:14

What do we think of sun visors?

Not much.

The back of one's neck remains unprotected.

BlueKittens · 03/07/2018 23:33

The model has long hair though Grin. Actually I popped into M&S after work and tried on both visits. Looked tragic on me. No, just no.

BlueKittens · 03/07/2018 23:33
  • Visors - not visits. Even my spellcheck doesn’t like them Grin
FaithEverPresent · 03/07/2018 23:40

Ooh goose that one just landed in my basket!
