Eyelash trouble

I have always had terrible eyelashes, they won’t curl and are criss cross, they look even worse with mascara on them.
I was wondering whether anyone else has the same and if there is anything I can do to make them look nicer?
All the mascaras I use clump and make them look so dry and wiry.

Get them dyed (so you don't need mascara)
Use castor oil to condition
Eyelash comb to try and untangle them.

or something like LVL?
