Absolutely stuck.

Admittedly have left it late as it's this weekend! (Been in hospital).

What do I bloody wear?! I've absolutely no idea, I haven't been to one before. I've not actually been to a wedding for a good 4 years either.

I'm 5'6 and weigh 15 stone (seems to all be at the front).

I hate my arms and my legs & my whole bloody body!

I tend to think that heads, arms and thighs should be covered for church occasions. A nice dress with a jacket and hat?

I think it depends on the christening. I haven’t been to a christening were people wore hats sounds more like a wedding or a very posh christening.
In my experience people are a lot more informal. Inwould say something cool if it’s this weekend definitely!
Maybe try Debenhams sale.
Some will wear summer dresses, a dress, others skirts and top or trousers and top. I don’t think you need to go to the expense of a hat or jacket but you could wear a pashmina if you wanted to but you may be in the overly hot minority.

No-one wears a hat to a christening, well not in a C of E church anyway. Just a nice summer dress and a cardigan or jacket will be fine. It isn't a wedding. Church congregations just tend to wear every day clothes these days, and you can always spot the christening guest, because they are far more smartly dressed.

Yes smart day wear fine or summer dress but nothing to revealing. It’s not a wedding and no need to go over board unless it’s at saint Paul’s or something.

BackforGood · 29/06/2018 23:32

What Akire said.

No hats needed, but a respectable length dress and your chest / shoulders covered too. 'Smart' rather than OTT.

Dress and light cardi would be fine.

AdaColeman · 29/06/2018 23:35

Smart day wear, no bare midriff for example.

AdaColeman · 29/06/2018 23:39

Could you wear the outfit you wore to the wedding rather than trail round the shops in this weather?

Flexoset · 30/06/2018 11:41

Another one saying smart daywear, no hat.

IMO you don't necessarily need to cover shoulders and knees in church, especially in this weather - I go to C of E church most weeks and see plenty of shoulders and knees (and jeans and T shirts), but it sounds as though you might be more comfortable doing so.

Check out photos of the royal christening. Everyone is wearing hats.

LoniceraJaponica · 30/06/2018 19:45

They don't christen royalty in our church CanaBanana Smile
