Nice summer dresses? Size 12, 43, on trend (ish) but not mutton

We've booked our summer holiday in a village in Spain and I now want to buy pretty summer things.

Where do I buy a nice summer dress or two (not maxi)? Sort of Boden style but maybe a bit more on trend/less school run mum. Cotton or silk.

I'm too old for H&M so any ideas welcome. And anything else that I might need for my holiday wardrobe!

Thank you!

Next had loads of cotton sun dresses in today. Just choose the print carefully.

Any price point?

These would be great for the beaches www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XPZX41N/ref=twister_B079VF7LWZ?psc=1&th=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Just got a couple of linen shift dresses in M&S, very happy with them - they somehow don't wrinkle much even when sitting down! I bought a size up and they're lovely and cool.

Have a look in COS, lots of stylish dresses, some on sale too.

I have some cotton ones from FatFace which I love but I don’t know if that counts as “on trend”...

I've got these , they come in different colours too .

By the way I'm size 12 and 43... I like to think of myself as fairly stylish ! 🤔🤔

Thanks all! Will check out those links now.

No real price point. Happy to spend money for something nice - was looking at Trilogy online but didn't like the dresses enough.

Thank you!

Don't give up on H&M. I'm 46 and still love their clothes as does my nearly 70 year old mum.

That H&M one is lovely - also looking out for nice dresses but I am pale and would prefer ones that don't require masses of suncream - so a bit of a shoulder and not completely exposed chest/back. That one fits the bill...

Growingboys · 30/06/2018 19:42

thanks l8toys that H&M one is so nice! Would have bought it but it's sold out online in a 12 - might have a look in store next week.

And thank you stoplicking and hendricksy as I have at your recommendation just gone onto the Next site and bought this in navy which I think will look quite chic. And just £26! www.next.co.uk/xt914s1

Elsewhere I've stalked me&em, which seems to have gone mental and has nothing I want, ever, any more. Ditto hush - can't see anything I like. I've also looked at Brora, randomly, and am trawling through the size 12s on John Lewis, although when I applied the 'holiday' filter I didn't like any of them. Ditto the Outnet.

Anyway, hurray for Next and my smart blue linen number!

Might have a look at Gap and Jigsaw too

Be wary with H and Ms sizing: I wear a 12 almost everywhere but I’m larger in the busy than they expect and would have to size up to a 16 there!

Victoria1083 · 30/06/2018 23:23

Have a look in Oliver Bonas - they have some really nice sun dresses with abstract prints

Growingboys · 01/07/2018 19:23

Guys the Next navy linen shift has just arrived and I love it! Thank you so much. I would never have considered Next (assume all polyester etc) but am now wondering whether to buy another in a different colour.

Thank you so much, and also for the Oliver Bonas idea - hadn't thought of that for some reason, will look tomorrow!
