Green phase 8 jumpsuit. Is it just going to look ridiculous. I've got large boots and a big tummy and I'm 5 ft 7.

It really depends on your shape. I'm exactly the same height and size as you and all the jumpsuits I tried on looked awful but on friends of mine the same shape etc they look great.

CrabappleBiscuit · 29/06/2018 11:48

I think the front might look ok but the back could be the problem!

I think the advantage you'll have is your height - I'm a few inches shorter and same clothes size but i look like SuperMario in a jumpsuit and the legs are always way too long!

Ultimately, will you be comfortable and do you like it? The thing I love about this weather is that people relax a bit and wear things they usually wear, and really no-one bats an eyelid, especially in town centres!

I live in a town with a ballet school and loads of tiny 20 somethings, but I can either spend my life indoors feeling like a heffalump, or say fuck it and try out my new outfit for the day!

MsHomeSlice · 29/06/2018 11:53

oh are you all spying on me?? Truman show stylee?

In a fit of summeriness I have put on the jumpsuit I bought ages ago in a charity shop and am wondering about it.

Its www.bodenusa.com/en-us/womens-dresses/day-dresses/wm473/womens-jersey-jumpsuit this style, but a B&W jungle type random print

Dh said it was lovely but a bit dazzling...maybe I'll try and do a photo

CrabappleBiscuit · 29/06/2018 12:06

Ooh i like that!

I love how they look on some people, but I always think, what if I'm desperate for a wee, you have to practically undress anyway to go to the loo in a jumpsuit, so you can't leave it until the last minute. The Boden one is lovely.

MsHomeSlice · 29/06/2018 17:29

cowes..i came back to say, it's been a right palaver wrt bathroom visits today!!

i got all hooked up in my bra strap and bangles, AND if your were in an iffy public convenience you'd have to be careful not to let the trousers fall on the floor.

I have decided to wear it more though, I went out just quickly and no one gasped or pointed. :o

Shinynew50p · 29/06/2018 17:57

Go for it. I love jumpsuits I wear them all the time. They are so comfy and easy to wear, I can't believe so many people are nervous of wearing them. I'm a size 12 with a huge mum tum!

mozzybites · 29/06/2018 18:00

I am mid 40's and only started wearing jumpsuits last year, I really like them as they are a whole outfit in themselves. I am only 5'4 so I have to watch the length. I don't really know why I waited so long.

SpiritedLondon · 29/06/2018 18:25

I can’t open your link unfortunately but I’m a 16/18 wearing a black silk jumpsuit as we speak. It’s as cool as a dress and prevents the dreaded chub rub. I’ve recently rediscovered it again after wearing it primarily going “ out out” - but today have got it with black studded Birkenstocks. I am an hourglass shape but have a definite tum now but feel good in this.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 29/06/2018 18:31

I’m 5ft and a size 16 and I truly envy those who can pull of a jumpsuit, I just look like a fat toddler in a babygrow!

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 29/06/2018 18:32

Oooh where is your black silk jumpsuit from? Would love one! Am short and tubby but love them and my DH thinks I rock them so that’s all I care about! And being comfy and cool...and mine has pockets too. Am in heaven and want more.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 29/06/2018 18:54

@Working where did you buy it?! I’m very short and very tubby and would very much like a jumpsuit!

Argeles · 29/06/2018 19:47

I’m 5ft5, and a size 14-16 with a huge flabby stomach and very big thighs. Before I ‘found’ jumpsuits, I lived in stretchy jersey pencil skirts in Summer, with shorts underneath to prevent chub rub. I used to absolutely roast.

I really didn’t expect jumpsuits to suit me, but I now have 3 culotte style jumpsuits, and they are the most flattering items of clothing that I own. It’s a huge added bonus that I don’t have to wear shorts with them to prevent chub rub.

WipsGlitter · 29/06/2018 19:50

Any links to the ones you have @Argeles?

SpiritedLondon · 29/06/2018 19:52

working it was from Cos but a couple of years ago I’m afraid. I’ve had cheaper ones from Asos Curve range but you have to watch the fabric as they use a lot of synthetics.

RickyGold · 29/06/2018 19:54

I'm size 16, taller than you at 5'10"", I have been stopped by strangers more than once who have told me they like my outfit and it suits me (this does not happen when I am wearing anything else!), so I say go for it.

mozzybites · 29/06/2018 19:55

Gap in the US online has a range of jumpsuits you can buy in different lengths.

Argeles · 29/06/2018 20:32

@WipsGlitter

I have one from New Look, one from Asda, and the other is from Primark.

I bought the ones from Asda and Primark last year. The Primark one is a similar style to this:

www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/playsuits-jumpsuits/curves-black-ribbed-jersey-wrap-jumpsuit/p/582909601?comp=Search

The Asda one is similar to this:

The New Look one is exactly the same style as this, but a different pattern (they no longer have my one):

CrabappleBiscuit · 29/06/2018 23:56

I really like the floral one. I think I need to try a few on and see..
