Supplements/treatments for nails.

Evening all! I'm looking for recommendations for ways to improve my nails. My nails tend to split really easily, but grow relatively quickly. I keep meaning to try cuticle oil but don't know what one to get.

So basically, what's the best way to keep my nails in tip top condition over summer? Are there vitamin supplements I should try? Oils/creams/potions?

Thanks Smile

I take biotin from holland and barrett and I swear it has strengthened mine and they certainly grow quicker. I have read that rubbing vicks or vaseline in every night helps too but no idea if its true.

Vitamin b5 aka pantothenic acid. Holland and Barrett sell it. I started taking it for something else. My nails became smooth and stronger in under 2 weeks.

Vaseline rubbed on every night. Has made my nails lovely!

A decent multivitamin supplement will help- that’s basically what all the fancy Nail growth supplement tables are! The better your general health it, the nicer your nails/hair/skin will be

Use a gentle, acetone free nail polish remover. Always remove polish with remover rather than peeling/scraping. Use a protective base coat always (I use opi). Try to change your nail polish less frequently, like 1-2 weeks at a time. Try a fast dry top coat to prevent chipping and smudges.

You can try a cuticle oil and a rich hand cream to boost the condition, but for best results you’ll have to wait for your nails to grow out. For now, keep them on the shorter side until they are strong enough to not split as frequently

Try a glass nail file - they are more gentle on your nails. Also you can use it to gently file out ridges in the future.

CND solar oil

When you’re filing your nails don’t use a sawing motion, file in one direction towards the middle from each side of the nail.

Thanks everyone!

I've heard good things about CND Solar Oil so I might give that a go and I'll have a look for a good multivitamin. I like to think my diet is varied but I haven't replaced my last set of multivits since I finished them a few months ago so that could be the difference.

Biotin, definitely.

Mine are ridiculously strong after I started taking it for my hair, which it's also having a fab effect on.
