In the UK, what make-up should I buy?

I've been out of the UK for 10 years. I always liked the choice in the UK so I'm wondering if I have missed any good make-up brands.

Currently using a combination of Chanel and Shiseido, with some blinc for lashes. Anything I should try?

Thanks!

For foundation I keep going back to Boots No 7. Instand Radiance. They colour match it to your skin.

I’ve tried Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier but keep going back to the Boots one.

Boots No 7 takes me back!

I'll give it a try, thanks.

What type of make up are you looking for? Foundation / mascara / lipstick / etc?

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/06/2018 16:24

Mostly foundation. Normal skin, want it to look magically dewy and 10 years younger moist.

Mascara as well.

MAC and Nars worth looking at for Foundation. I've also got a fab peachy Nars blusher, and I like their concealer.

Dior Star is quite good for a dewy finish, but im currently using a clarins one - recently discovered their range and its wonderful for my skin!

Verbena87 · 27/06/2018 19:23

Another vote for MAC. I’ve got their prep and prime primer - that under their face and body foundation lets my freckles show through but makes me magically look youthful and rested. Only bother for special ocassions so lasts ages.

makes me magically look youthful and rested

That sounds good!

I always find Clinique foundations best. Light and translucent and dewy. Not overly made up just fresh and better than my natural skin.

Constantlurker · 27/06/2018 19:33

I've recently started using the body shop fresh nude foundation. Would never have picked it up but a friend made me try it. Holy moly it is amazing! You can't feel it on your skin and it looks so dewy and soft. Best thing I've bought in years.

Ciderwithbuda, which shade in the No7 Instance radiance do you use, do you find this foundation OK for summer when its hot? I am struggling with what to use at the moment and do like No7. Have thought of a tinted moisturiser but I still like a bit more cover though not a lot.

CiderwithBuda · 28/06/2018 14:54

Citygirl - I use Cool Ivory. I don’t tend to use it much in summer to be honest. I use Bare Minerals Original foundation powder in Fairly Light over sunscreen. But would use the Boots foundation at night.

Kiko!!!!

I like Illamasqua a lot. Primer, foundation etc - everything has amazing staying power and highly pigmented.

Floradoranora · 28/06/2018 17:42

Bobbi Brown intensive skin serum foundation with SP40 is excellent.

butterry · 28/06/2018 17:47

Hourglass, their stick foundation and powders!

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/06/2018 22:23

Thanks everyone. I'll have fun looking!

NYX (stocked in Boots) does a finishing spray for about £8. I buy the dewy effect one and I swear it takes about 5 years off me every time I use it.

LoveInTokyo · 29/06/2018 22:12

Soap and Glory “Thick and Fast” mascara.

Bubba1234 · 30/06/2018 10:08

Armani silk foundation
