Hi all, can I wear this dress to my friend’s rustic wedding? I love the dress but is it too long and white? m.asos.com/hope-and-ivy/hope-ivy-wrap-front-high-low-maxi-dress-with-floral-embroidery/prd/8908366?iid=8908366&custref=3024114&affid=14564&channelref=email&orderref=338685985

No! It's a long white dress!

I'm not normally precious about these things, but that one's too much.

(Sorry. It is a lovely dress on other circs)

Zioanna · 27/06/2018 08:30

Not appropriate for a wedding, sorry

Fridakahlofan · 27/06/2018 08:30

Don't wear that Grin

nomilknosugarplease · 27/06/2018 08:30

Dontbuymesocks · 27/06/2018 08:32

No, just no!

imsorryiasked · 27/06/2018 08:33

Nope not good form to wear that.
Howe about this one

mimibunz · 27/06/2018 08:33

Why do you have to ask? No!

Pearlsablinger · 27/06/2018 08:36

Ooh that’s nice too, thanks

There are millions if colours and designs of dresses to choose from. Just stay away from white. Why are you even asking?

Pearlsablinger · 27/06/2018 08:37

Yes ok, it’s very colourful IRL but I still wasn’t sure, glad I checked. Thanks everyone

Are you the bride...?

MrsClutterworth · 27/06/2018 08:51

I like the one @imsorryiasked posted a link to. The other one isn't appropriate for a wedding guest but is otherwise lovely. Try and stay away from long white dresses lol.

Soloooo · 27/06/2018 08:52

Really lovely but no not suitable. The other one posted is beautiful.

Bluntness100 · 27/06/2018 08:55

What is it with some folks wanting to dress like brides to someone else's wedding, it's all so mrs haversham. You see it on here a lot. There are millions of dresses to pick from in a rainbow of colours, but the mere mention of the word wedding and some women run straight for the white dresses like some form of mist descends. It's very strange .

No you can't go to someone's wedding in that dress, unless you're the bride that is.

peachypetite · 27/06/2018 08:56

If you have to ask, it's usually a no.

Pearlsablinger · 27/06/2018 09:22

I wonder if I asked you in a shop if this is appropriate for a wedding you would yell “Miss Haversham!” or “Why are you even asking?” at me?
Thanks to everyone else for the simple and helpful “No”.
(Blunt, it’s MISS Haversham, not Mrs, that’s the point).

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 27/06/2018 09:24

Well i wouldn't yell it, but yes I'd probably say sorry that's a bit miss haversham...🤣

Decanter · 27/06/2018 09:27

Pearlsablinger, was just thinking the same... all these ballsy cheeky bastards...I’m sure if a stranger asked their opinion in a store or a colleague or Mum in playground asked them they’d be nice as pie. Arseholes. I can see why you’d be on the fence, but in my opinion it’s a bit bridey.

ErictheGuineaPig · 27/06/2018 09:33

It doesn't look remotely bridal to me. I wouldn't have given it a second thought if you'd rocked up to my wedding wearing that. Unless you teamed it with a veil and a large bouquet of flowers...I always thought the whole point of not wearing white was you wouldn't want anyone mistaking you for the bride.

Rocinante1 · 27/06/2018 09:35

I said "why are you even asking" to a friend's friend. So it was my friends wedding, a few of us went shopping together. One of my friends brought their friend (who would also be a guest but I hadn't met before) and she wanted a white, lace dress... And asked if it was ok. My reply was a snort of laughter and "why would you even think that's ok?". So yes, I would say that in real life. If someone wants to be that cheeky/just plain stupid then they've brought it on themselves!

eloisesparkle · 27/06/2018 09:51

It's too colourful to be bridal.

Decanter · 27/06/2018 10:05
Hmm

Rocinante1 You’re defending your rudeness, yes?

Your friend is a lucky lady.

HildaZelda · 27/06/2018 10:07

Definitely not suitable for a wedding.

MsHomeSlice · 27/06/2018 10:10

it's not even a dress, it's a nightie!

so no, on all counts.

twinkledag · 27/06/2018 10:12

It looks like a dressing gown Confused
