Bad acne/dry skin - really getting me down - help!

I am 21 weeks pregnant and my skin is really getting me down. This isn't pregancy induced bad skin - it has been bad for at least 6 months prior to conception. (and on and off for teens/adulthood during periods when i was off Dianette). I have cystic acne on my chin (big painful lumps) but my skin is also very dry around my nose, so it is a nightmare of constant applying different creams to different parts of my face.

I have tried to steer away from harsh oil-stripping cleansers as these have never worked for me and - have tried la roche posay effaclar moisturiser which is okay but never clears the spots. Same for silver cream....

I am also cutting dairy (still have some cheese and butter and yogurt) but dont drink milk, as this is a known trigger due to the added hormones - the rest of my diet is boringly healthy so no adjustments needed there.

  1. What product ranges can you recommend - obviously I cant use anything with retinol/vitamin A in. I may try proactiv but feel it may be too strong for my skin? Would like to know others experiences.
  2. is it worth seeing a dermatologist? or is there naff all they can prescribe/offer me with me being pregnant.

Any other tips/skin care regimes would be welcomed!

Thank you :)

Bravura Salicylic Acid followed by a clay mask is good.

Also, hydrocolloid plasters/special spot patches.

And wrapping an ice cube in a sandwich bag and holding it over an emerging spot til it melts really helps with inflammation/swelling.

Stop washing your face altogether. People call it the caveman regimen (v American I know). My skin cleared up in about a month.

The painful lumps and dry around the nose is what I had. My Gp thought it was cystic acne, sent me to a dermatologist and it was actually papulopustular rosacea.
